Looking for a good Desert Adventure

Wolfgang and company - DAve "Zeb" Cook, Jeff Grubb, Clay Fleischer, and Joshua Stevens - provided not one, not two, but six adventures! You can get a free preview of Six Arabian Nights off of this page. Now, here's the rub. To get SAN, you have a limited window of time to become a patron...

Will the 5 minute rest encourage roleplaying?

I think that it will change the conversation at the table to explain what's going on. There may be more roleplaying related to that new conversation. Or there may not.

Boston Gameday - Sat, March 15th (FULL!)

I'll take watching the kids for $200, Sir Alex! I intend to depart CT at 11:00 AM so that I'll have enough time to make the start of my game. As Qualidar can attest, I might wind up getting lost, but I'll deliver a game. PS I've never been to your house. Are directions stashed...

    Gygax doesn't matter?

Is this wrong, or are you simply observing that you don't choose to mourn this way? To the OP's comment, I ask, "What would the Colonel do?" I don't honestly know exactly how he'd respond, if at all, but I expect it would be witty and dry and quickly move on to something of value....

    WorldWide GaryCon This Weekend!

My group preferred to stick with 3E. So we ran through a 3E adventure instead. 2 PCs dead (1 human wizard, 1 half-orc fighter) 1 PC down to 0 wisdom and half dead (elven rogue) 1 PC who went to -2, but got healed. The dwarf cleric, down to a 7 Wisdom. 1 PC alive and pretty much unscathed...

    Various Gary Gygax Blog Entries/Tributes/Podcasts

Check the background on this webcomic: http://questionablecontent.net/ (If it's after the date of this post, which is 3/6, then go backwards through the archives to today.) If you're not a Something Positive fan, you should be. A couple of tributes this week: Something Positive

    WorldWide GaryCon This Weekend!

We are gaming Saturday. Indeed. Great idea.

    Your group's tributes to Gary

We are setting up a dungeon crawl for Saturday. I at least will have a drink that contemplates gin in his honor. There will be an empty chair and a table with my 1E DMG, PH and MM as well as Keep on the Borderlands (he wrote it and it's the first Gygax adventure I ever ran for someone) right...

If you wish to send regards to the Gygax Family, Please Read

Yes, thank you for passing along questions and getting answers! Good idea. I think that a never-ending game of D&D somewhere that someone can join, set in some amazing castle/dungeon would be a very fitting tribute. If it's inside a real dungeon, that would be awesome! (The traps should be...

Boston Gameday - Sat, March 15th (FULL!)

Yeah. I guess I'll take an alternate slot though for my game, if that's the case. ;)

AE Combat Rites and ToB: Bo9S Maneuvers

Agreed that they are probably unrelated. (I find combat rites far less complicated actually.) However, Monte himself wrote that the ritual warrior was inspired by an idea of Mike Mearls'. Just to set that record straight.

    Fly is out?

Agreed on that _ though it will be odd getting used to having teleport from the start

    Disappointed by movement

That's an interesting point. I haven't been following closely. Is fly gone? That said, I like the apparent dynamism, since it does fix the biggest problem with D&D to this point: that the most effective tactic is still dealing out gobs of hit points. However, I'm with some of the others in...

Do you give magic items a history? If so, I could use help

Some ideas: This weapon was made for a wealthy noble's son, a fine dandy who died at the hands of the Pirate Queen Yamilla. She found it made a fine toothpick, since she was an ogress. When she perished at the hands of the Ragged Seven, their leader Svim kept it for his own. Svim died leaping...

Monte's 3.75? (A sequal is on its way)

This would be Sue Cook's doing. She's an editorial ace.

    East Coast USA by Railway

Do you know your night stops? That would help on recommending housing. (For example, in NYC there are some good hostels, according to a friend of mine.) We're not in a position to host folks, however if you pass through Hartford CT and have time, I would be happy to show you folks a good place...

    Gamer Law

We aren't there yet. Perhaps its easier to think of gamers like engineers, or their precursors, a noted secret society, the Masons. We have our own argot and jargon and tools, get together in private places for private meetings where the public (usually) is not allowed, require various pledges...

Does Your Game Do Your Brain Good?

Interesting? Care to expound more in a separate thread? RPGs also improve math skills. Markedly. Thanks to D&D and Champions, I can do rapid calculations in my head that I could never do in math class. Okay, I still suck at calculus, but who uses that on a day-to-day basis besides engineers? ;)

Looking for Clear Plastic Rods for Battlemap Use...

I just bought (on clearance) a couple of Transformer's cubes full of candy. The cube looks like a Rubik's cube, but clear plastic with stickers. I intend to remove the stickers, take off the goo with WD-40, and have a set of clear plastic cubes to use for flying creatures and to represent wall...
