Welcome to the boards, LadyGalahad! Since you've lready started a new thread in the correct forum, I'll go ahead and close this one.

    D&D Novels

Mark, Hobo has explained himself and the conversation is staying polite. Please don't try to make something that isn't there.

    D&D Novels

I third the recommendation for Elaine Cunningham's novels. (Both the Songs & Swords series and the Counselors & Kings series are worth your time, IMO.) Also, I found Richard Baler's Last Mythal trilogy to be a very good read.

    Hasbro quote on MtG

I picked up Duels of the Planeswalkers when it came out in Steam. Not only is it fun, but it's been a good tool for teaching my 8-year-old the basic rules. Next... deckbuilding! (wrings hands evilly)

    Hasbro quote on MtG

On the contrary - I think that "brand reinvention and re-imagination" is exactly what they're trying with 4E and Essentials. (See Heroscape, upcoming board games, ending the traditional hardcover-rulebook model...) Magic has been very successful, and as a MtG player since Legends, that makes me...

Essentials nostalgia - the death of martial healing

I'm closing this thread; it's been going since last week and seems to be rehashing the same ground over and over, and getting more and more contentious to boot Feel free to strat a new thread in a few days if there's anything else unsaid about this topic.

    PFRPG GameMastery Guide

Real life has gotten in the way, and I've done nothing more than scan through the (luscious-looking) pdf. Hope to write more this weekend.

    PFRPG GameMastery Guide

It's in my Paizo subscriber Downloads... pulling it down now. Yee-haw!!! Looking forward to giving it a good read tomorrow.

    Highly recommend Carrion Hill

Let's get the thread back on track, please. The FR Underdark discussion is interesting, so please fork it to another thread if you wish to continue. I love the "cut one tree/plant two" analogy. It's good advice for DMs as well as for game designers.

Mods might want to take a closer look at...

No problem. Reporting a post doesn't result in automatic demerits or anything; it just drops a post where we can all see them. Heck, sometimes we report our own posts in cases where we want the other mods to see something we wrote. Easier than copying a link, going to the mods forum, and...

Do you keep your Players' character sheets?

When I DM, I like to keep a copy of the character for reference, but no way would I ask the player to "hand it over." When I play, I make sure my DM has a copy of the Word document I create for the character sheet, and well and printing out a copy for him/her. For our last campaign, I created a...

    A comic for the moderators...

Heh. I see they went with the base install, and didn't go for the middle-digit upgrade. :)

    D&D Comic creators announced!

Woo-hoo! Congrats to jonrog1! Perfect pairing of writer and subject, methinks. If it's successfull, can a Drunk Southern Girls with Guns comic be far behind? :)

D&D Essentials - What they are and who they're for

This applies to me, as well. I wanted to try 4E when it was released, but after looking through the box set, I just didn't have the heart or the time to learn the entirely new system well enough to DM it (which is what I would have had to do). I might have to sample one or two of these new books...

    Mutants & Masterminds 3rd Edition

I'm glad they're doing this. Hopefully DC Adventures will bring in some new RPG blood, so having a fresh rulebook on the shelf next to it makes a lot of sense. I bought the 1E rulebook and never played, and bought the 2E rulebook and never played*. Reason tells me I shouldn't make it a...
