D&D 5E (2024) OAR 10 City State of the Invincible Overlord

I am glad that I kept my d20 versions. The old Necromancer Games stuff was some of the few that I kept and those came out, I think, when the original creator was still around.

D&D General Looking for Skype alternatives

I use it everyday for work. It is far more useful than other programs including its ability to file share, chat channel etc. I never tried it for gaming. I use Discord but detest how it can strain the PC. I have gigabyte speeds and two people in the same house cannot use video at same time...

D&D General Looking for Skype alternatives

Google Meet. If one person has M365 then you could use Microsoft Teams which lets you create a permanent chat channel too. I would look at the new version. Of TeamSpeak too.

Hate watching is a thing. I do not do it but I know a lot of folks who do.

D&D 5E (2024) If Your Builds Not Online By Level 6 Dont Bother?

Most of my game time takes place at 6-12 with 1-5 and 13-18 being equal. I tend to level faster after level 12 because the party is facing more epic threats. My campaigns always hit level 17.

D&D 5E (2024) If Your Builds Not Online By Level 6 Dont Bother?

Weird. I have never seen first level last past session 2. My current group is level 7 after a year but that has more to do with only playing 3 hour sessions 1, maybe 2 times per month. I love to start at level one to introduce people to the game and have a good starting point.

D&D 5E (2024) OAR 10 City State of the Invincible Overlord

Thanks. It was enlightening. I read the last couple of pages to see why the thread was closed as I could not see why anyone would be defending junior and…..wow.

D&D 5E (2024) OAR 10 City State of the Invincible Overlord

Once again, I must have missed something that happened to tarnish JG in the last decade or so that I was away from regular gaming news and discussion.

    D&D 5E (2024) Martial/Caster fix.

I have a very similar experience. I have never had games where the casters outshone the martials. The most power players in my current campaign are the fighter rune knight and the barbarian monk. They wipe the floor with the casters every session.

On This May The 4th, Let's Celebrate Star Wars TTRPGs. +

Saga is, by far, my favorite Star Wars TTRPG. I enjoyed the mechanics and feel of Saga Edition d20. I ran several saga games and I own multiple copies of the core book so that I can lend them out if I run another game.

D&D General How would you feel if Official Adventures only covered 3 levels?

I have found that I do not want adventures any longer. I have started using Kobold Press's Book of Lairs recently and they give me 1-3 session events that I can slot into my own games. For traditional small adventures, I find them all the time as PDFs and this is fine. I prefer them as PDFs and...

What makes a TTRPG purchase "worth it" to you?

Ouch. An entire AP is now $180+tax. I stopped doing them about 8 years ago. I needed to drop my Paizo subs when I had a job change. That is a 50% price increase.

They are 30 per?! Even the sub?

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

In order to get to 70%, you are forced to signup for additional programs, often including exclusivity to the Amazon platform and then are unable to fully control your own pricing or discounts.

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

Publishers often pay non-living wages to content producers too in order to account for the distribution model. Amazon, for instance, only pays 30% or less to people who sell ebooks through them. PDF publishing is difficult because many people see it as “less value” and publishers often charge...

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

It’s volume. It is pretty easy to understand that printing 1 book versus printing 1000 is a different price proposal. It makes sense to bundle a PDF with a print book or add 10 for a bundle. People need to understand that the content costs more to produce than the output format. People...

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

This. Printing and mailing is the least of my expenses for production.

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

In my neck of publishing, we usually target a PDF at 80% of a print product for new content.

    D&D 5E (2014) Should 3PP upgrade their books to 2024 versions?

Funny enough, a KS I backed updated to 5.5 and the backers demanded they stick with 5.0.
