    D&D 5E (2014) eldritch knight multiclass

I'm not so sure. It depends upon the class, and what you really have in mind for the character. I see most classes getting some kind of bonus every level. IMHO, I have a hard time multiclassing unless I have a clear build in mind.

    D&D 5E (2014) eldritch knight multiclass

If you're optimizing, you have to start as a Fighter. You get better equipment, any skills can be chosen through background, and (most importantly), proficiency in CON saves. You could easily lose concentration spells without the proficiency bonus.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E inspired by B/X?

That's why this game is so good!

    D&D 5E (2014) Adventurers league 1st level build

Since you can keep changing your character in AL, except for gear, what do you think of a human cleric (any with heavy armor) and heavy armor master? He will survive pretty easily and will also be able to help others with heals.

D&D 5E (2014) Point Buy or Standard Array

I played a lot of 2e with "4d6, drop lowest" I rolled all 14's once. Straight down. LOL. Nice roll, no bonuses (unless I chose to be a demihuman).

D&D 5E (2014) AL half orc Druid (moon) build

10/14/14/12/14/12 First few levels will be using shillelagh in melee, if needed. Level 4: magic initiate feat (mage armor). I figure with mage armor, shape changing, and the half orc physical bonuses (these still work when shape changed, right?), he will be an even better melee monster than...

D&D 5E (2014) Point Buy or Standard Array

Two 9's are low stats? I guess that just tells you what the different communities were like. I remember many games where you were happy to get your Prime Requisite to 13 for 5% bonus XP. :p

D&D 5E (2014) Point Buy or Standard Array

If you guys rolled for stats (as was standard in any edition before 3.0), and the lowest you ever saw in a rolling system was 9, then I don't think your players were rolling fair. IJS

D&D 5E (2014) Point Buy or Standard Array

Sorry for taking so long. Barbarian: mountain dwarf 17/14/17/8/10/8 alt. 16/14/16/9/13/8 (if you plan on Resilient feat later) Bard: half elf 8/14/14/12/12/17 Cleric: hill dwarf (Tempest)14/8/16/12/16/8 Cleric: half elf or human (Knowledge) 10/12/14/14/16/10 (8) Druid (moon): hill dwarf...

D&D 5E (2014) What magic items should you have for a given level?

There's something in the DMG. I don't know the page right now. I can tell you this: at 5th level, the only magic item I got was one uncommon.

D&D 5E (2014) Point Buy or Standard Array

Interesting. I'm taking my daughter to the movies, and then dinner after. I'll probably be done in 4-5 hours from now. When I settle in, I'll take a shot at what I think are the best "powergamer" setups for each class/theme.

D&D 5E (2014) Point Buy or Standard Array

Nice, but I think we all know a variant human is better. , sure, one of those 16s becomes a 15, but all the 9s become 8, which doesn't matter, and you get a feat.

D&D 5E (2014) Point Buy or Standard Array

I disagree. I think point buy is definitely better. You get to choose to either go with standard array, or tweak it to make your character better. More choices is obviously better than less choices in this instance, where one of the choices is the exact same as the standard array.

    D&D 5E (2014) Skill Monkey Builds

Wow, very nice! Personally, I'd prefer a higher STR, just so I could wear heavy armor. I'd also suggest a Life Cleric, because the bonus applies to Bard cure spells too. If you don't want to boost STR too much, being a Dwarf is a great option so you can just stick with medium armor and the...

    D&D 5E (2014) What's your favorite uncommon magic item?

FYI: the headband of intellect is a great choice IF you will be casting offensive spells. Your spell selection is pretty limited. Many very good EK's get by with an 8 intelligence. Assuming this is point buy, of course. If you will be wearing heavy armor (DEX based has its merits!), then the...

D&D 5E (2014) New game for me. Is this acceptable?

I hadn't quite thought of it that way, but it's cool. I was thinking of using two different voices, and sometimes neglecting to wear the circlet (for comedic purposes, mostly). Besides, I personally have nowhere near a 19 INT. Next time I make a boneheaded decision, I can attribute it to my...

D&D 5E (2014) New game for me. Is this acceptable?

Thanks guys. I'm re-imagining this character as a more traditional archer, but with spells. Kind of looking like Bard from "The Hobbit" When I look at the suggested equipment, I can't help but get munchkinny and start thinking about that headband of intellect. In a point but system, being...
