    resting and spellcasting

Ok, I understand that clerics need to meditate for their spells at the same time every day so they can only regain spells once every 24 hours. No problem there. PHB says arcane casters need 8 hours rest before preparing new spells. Any spells cast in the last 8 hours count against their total...

Bards - Why do so few people play them?

He was Bard 3/rogue 1. I took the level of rogue for min/max reasons and rp reasons- my characters fighter/rogue brother was in the party, and I though it would be cool if we had similar streetwise style. We could flank enemies and give'em the ol' Malachi Crunch. Of course, by not starting...

    were vulcans inspired by elves?

I was reading this thread with great interest and then I started to get dizzy and I broke out into a cold sweat. It was then I realized that I have OD'ed on geekiness.

Bards - Why do so few people play them?

I disagree. I took a level of rogue to munch him up a bit, and I regretted it. Granted, I took the rogue level after starting as bard, but I still wish I had stayed a pure bard. His abilities are so varied that to multiclass him only dilutes his best stuff, like his spells and bardic knowledge...

Class balance changes in revised PHB?

I think most of us agree with you, but I think the rogue is the real skill class. IMO the bard is supposed to be the "jack-of-all-trades, master of none." As mentioned previously, there is nothing scribed in stone that says that you have to max every skill. HOWEVER, I suppose I would like to see...

Class balance changes in revised PHB?

Re: rangers I felt that way when I first read it too, but I actually warmed up to the idea and now I would actually like to see more of this like Henry mentioned. Its hard to invest your hard-earned skill points on such a focused skill(rope use, anyone?). Only rangers would sink skill points...

    D&D Story in Entertainment Weekly

Can't seem to get the link to the article to work, but once you said it was written by Joel Stein I knew what I was in for. He writes the same kind of facetious, smart-alecky columns in Time Magazine on all kinds of subjects, and quite frankly, the man cracks me up. Time gets many angry letters...

    Your DnD Weapon?

Kind of partial to the battleaxe myself. Smite your enemies AND chop wood? Oh, the utility!

    DMing, Mapping & Technology

I'm kind of against too many high-tech toys at the gaming table. Not only are they expensive and cumbersome, but they defeat some of the charm of a pnp rpg. I like being able to contain an entire world in a single backpack with just books, paper, dice, pencils, and maybe some counters. The most...

    LOTR:TTT and Golden Globes

I'm happy for PJ, but I honestly think that this film does not deserve to win this year. As I said in another thread, this movie is great, but not really award-worthy, at least in non-technical catagories. If TTT gets nominated for a best pic oscar, it will be a token ackowledgement, nothing...

    TTT: Anyone else notice...?

Ok so I'm NOT crazy! Thanks, Wormwood!

Who was originally cast as Aragorn?

Never have I seen such perfect casting for so many roles in one film like in FotR. The dodgiest casting for me is Sean Astin as Sam, since he sounds like he struggles the most with the required accent. But even he does a decent job. Cate IS Galadriel. She oozes of inner strength and wisdom...

Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers ENworld reviews & discussion (SPOILERS)

Re: Re: well A third vote for this view. I like this film, but not as much as the first. Too much of a departure form the book. Too obvious of an attempt to turn this into a wall-to-wall actioner. Acting wasn't as good in this one...the Theoden exorcism scene was over the top. I felt the...

Have you guys seen the first Dune series? I didn't have scifi during its first run. Is it any good? Is it better than the David Lynch flik?

Hmmm. Keep on the Borderlands would be fun. How about x1- The Isle of Dread? I lost lots of characters on that dang island- I'd like to take another crack at it. How about Battlesystem? Or Birthright?

    What's your 3.5e wishlist?

This whole thread is filled with stuff beyond the scope of the planned revision, but people can't help themselves.;) JeffB a few posts back has been the most realistic so far. All they're going to do is incorporate the Sage FAQ, throw in some splatbook stuff, and plagerise the cleaned up...

    3E art and age

Dangit, I wish i could have posted to this thread earlier. My thoughts in no particular order: I agree with kenjib and sigil mostly on this. I'm more of a traditionalist, and would like to see the style reeled in a bit. Less science fantasy, more medieval fantasy. "Its all fantasy", good...

[WOTC] Revised Corebooks for July confirmed with info

No. Like bonuses do not stack, except maybe for armor/shield and dodge. Anyhoo, I hope they revise the CRs in the new MM. That would be worth the price of admission alone:D
