Just played Halo for the first time...

The PC version is - widescreen capable - so I imagine they'll do so with Halo 2. I know some Xbox games are now.

Baldur's Gate 3 and Neverwinter Nights 2 all-but-confirmed by Atari!

I'd not heard anything about your project - probably because I made it through the NWN single player campaign, played with the toolset, decided there was no way to have a party, and and promptly shelved my copy. That was two years ago, and I haven't looked at it since. This looks very, very...

Just played Halo for the first time...

They released it on PC, oh... I want to say last October. Give or take a few months. If you've got a high-end machine, it looks incredibly nice.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 Trailer

The hi-res version is up on Fileplanet, too, and doesn't require a subscription.

They're not. Halo is the rare exception (Deus Ex is another. The original.)

Poll: Historical Kit & realistic rules

PDF or print, I'd buy this in a heartbeat. I'm constantly tweaking the D&D rules, especially combat, to get closer to realism (and I'm not too terribly worried about things slowing down combat, because we get into - big - fights rarely enough that it's actually a benefit.) Especially with that...

    Sexism in your campaign settings

Hiya, Randomling. :) For what it's worth, the same thing happens in my game - players directing other player's actions - and not actually to the female player's character, but to one of the guys, who never argues. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think this part, anyway, is more of a case of...

Baldur's Gate 3 and Neverwinter Nights 2 all-but-confirmed by Atari!

Right. But neither of those two franchises already have a precedent for the games being in series. Baldur's Gate does, and that's the difference. There have been four released products in the Baldur's Gate line, and they've all moved directly in chronological order (with allowances for...

Hits and Misses (or, Striking a Nerve)

Seconded, in all cases. I've always been a D&D/d20 gamer - years now, though I've looked at other systems - and the class/level system is been getting under my skin enough lately that I've seriously thought of converting my game directly over to 4E GURPS when that comes out. (Haven't had a...

Baldur's Gate 3 and Neverwinter Nights 2 all-but-confirmed by Atari!

While that'd be interesting, I'd rather they not call it Baldur's Gate. They didn't treat Icewind Dale (obviously) as BG 1.5 and 2.5, after all. I realize the Icewind Dale games had a different feel to them, but my point is that I don't see any real reason to keep a name that implies it's part...

Baldur's Gate 3 and Neverwinter Nights 2 all-but-confirmed by Atari!

Hm. Odd how this does nothing for me. Not only have I nearly sworn off Atari, each of those... I didn't like Neverwinter Nights (though I understand the expansion campaigns were far more enjoyable,) and there's no reason for BG3. Not only would I miss the Inifinity engine (which they wouldn't...

What's the best looking HUGE D&D miniature?

I voted for the Behir. The only ones I don't have are the Gold Dragon and the Warforged. Got two nightwalkers, t-rexs, treants (three treants, actually,) and a two fomorians. Interestingly enough, one of the nightwalkers is kinda cool, 'cause it glistens. The second is missing any colour...

    Character Archetypes

I've been looking through my collection of books - and I've got a lot - and thinking about core classes. As a rough estimate, I'd say I've got near a hundred different core classes, aside from those in the Player's Handbook. While trying to compile a list of what'd be useful for my game, I...

Does your Dwarven warrior wield an axe?

I'm currently running a dwarven werebear in a mid/high-level game (Maure Castle, actually.) He uses a pair of axes in dwarf form... well, he *carries* a pair of axes, anyway. He's yet to use 'em - I tend to shift into hybrid and cause problems with a shillelaghed quarterstaff.

    Alternate sunder rules

I think because she used Sovelior's SRD, which currently says this: That said, I hadn't realized it was errata'd at all, so this changes things a little bit.

    Alternate sunder rules

I spent last night up *way* too late, talking with my DM about sundering items. We're playing through Maure castle, and when I sundered one of the gnoll's +1 dire flails with an AoO, and then seriously broke him on my turn, he began expressing some concern. I agree, on many points, though my...

    Natural weapons in a grapple?

Hey, folks. I've never been *terribly* clear on the grapple rules - despite multiple readings, they've never made loads of sense to me. Not been a huge issue in the past, though. Now, however, I'm playing a dwarvern werebear in a high-level game, and found out - via accident, the other day...

Health, hardiness -- translating RL to DnD

On the other hand, you have people like me who can keep doing something for hours - swimming, running. I can do 16 miles, running, in a little more than two hours. Fairly good. On the other hand, I can barely bench 60 lbs. I think they're two different things. :)

    Why a kama?

Which, of course, fits in perfectly well with the decision not to include a katana (which, I've a feeling, is more often asked for than a kama.) Ok; so general consensus is that it's unneccesary. That's fine with me - I was just annoyed that I couldn't find a difference, since they made a...

    Why a kama?

Ok. A sickle costs 6 gp, weighs 2 lbs, and is a slashing weapon that does 1d4/1d6 damage, with a 20/x2 crit chance. A kama costs 2 gp, weighs 2 lbs, and is a slashing weapon that does 1d4/1d6 damage, with a 20/x2 crit chance. They may both be used to make trip attacks/dropped to avoid a...
