    [OT] Amber: new novels

Damned straight. I've run Amber or Amber-esque games in a bunch of different rules sets. Absolutely smashing setting.

    [OT] Amber: new novels

I don't know if I like this idea or not. On one hand, Zelazny is dead. On the other, he did leave a lot of dangling plot...

FFG's Relationships & Romances: Prank or Real Product?

They should make it. Most DMs can't run a romantic subplot to save their lives...

    [OT] I'm Back

Is this, like, the second coming? You could spare the ENBoards a lot of off-topic grief by going to discuss it here. Trust me, a lot of the people here also read over there...

GURPS - a matter of style and setting.

The ninjas will find you tonight.

GURPS - a matter of style and setting.

Back, systems evangelist! You'll not get this one! Take your d20 elsewhere! Besides, we GURPS fans rarely if ever get asked to hype our favorite system :p Allow us our moment

GURPS - a matter of style and setting.

Amen to that. True, it's not a full magic system, but the modifications Hite gives for the GURPS magic system make it over into something quite suited to the genre of the book. Also, nicely enough, it gives guidelines to apply those same tweaks to the ritual magic found in GURPS Spirits. I've...

D&D slides farther into popular culture

I did. Started it myself. Lasted about a year. Wait, that was middle school. Still, it was fun.

Cthulhu vs 13 i conic 20th levels= winner cthulhu. BUT what about vs 20th level smack

Well, Azathoth isn't a good yardstick here. He's the chief diety of the Outer Gods. If he ever came to Earth, he'd end all life on it. It's generally a "good thing" that he's just over there in the Outer Darkness writhing to the piping of bizarre alien flute music as non-euclidean crustaceans...

    Demon dying to fast

Remember, killing a demon or devil doesn't actually kill it, it just sends it back to its home plane. If your party manages to get lucky and wax a demon, that demon will be back later on, better prepared, and with friends. All you've really done is given it an axe to grind against you.

They would, but then he'd regenerate, and eat them. Remember, old octopus-face can take a nuke to the kisser and still come back for more.

What do you want to see in D20 Dragonlance?

I think that Dragonlance could be served by allowing itself to develop as a d20 setting, rather than a D&D setting. Take a look at how Ravenloft has fared away from the WotC fold.

GURPS - a matter of style and setting.

Cabal is written by Kenneth Hite, same as the new edition of Horror. Hite is, in my humble opinion, one of the most creative and talented writers in the business at present.

    Dragonstar added to D&D?

Or possibly even "ifs" of their godhood. It'd be fun to say that "Corellon" and "Gruumsh" are actually far more ancient gods masquerading as these racial heroes because their original worshippers died out...

    D20 Games without AoO.

CoC is not a combat oriented game, due in part to the fact that there's not really anything you can do after your character dies to bring them back. Ergo, quick combat I think serves to keep the focus on the story, rather than getting bogged down in the more intricate melee combat of D&D.

    D20 Games without AoO.

Because they're a level of complexity that's not conducive to the general pace that d20 combat tends to keep. Levels of complexity like that, in my experience, serve better as optional rules, such that the default combat runs quicker without attacks of opportunity.

    Centaur Paladin and Special Mount

A centaur could have a special mount if it was a creature capable of flying. The Centaur would simply ride in a harness beneath the creature, instead of above it.

    D20 Games without AoO.

Attacks of Opportunity work better as an optional rule than as a core rule, really.

    But...why not GURPS Munchkin?

My point was largely that Munchkin was a pre-existing line due to the cardgame, and it's entirely likely that market research indicated that Munchkin's fanbase would simply be more receptive to a d20 release than a GURPS release.
  20. The Traveler

    But...why not GURPS Munchkin?

Possibly because SJG doesn't really intend to have a full d20 line, and is only doing this book because it fits the milieu of Munchkin and appeals to Munchkin's core audience?
