OK. Thanks for the responses, everybody!!! That's two votes for "make the trapper a sub-class of hunter". What about making the trapper a prestige class wherein several hunting things are a prerequisite of the trapper prestige class?

See, I think this is part of the problem. Assuming I wanted to use feats, I'd have to spend 4-6 weeks reading and researching all feats from all editions. Doesn't the inclusion of feats just add at least a month to the character creation process? So absolutely confusing...... LoL, a person...

Interesting. You mean to tell me that a certain feat from one edition wouldn't necessarily have been carried over into subsequent editions?

With this I disagree. Robin Hood was more of thief/revolutionary/redistributionist than a creature slayer. Though the "forest terrain" archetype is clearly present. If I'm looking for who or what influenced Tolkien to create his medieval rangers, I'm looking primarily at two individuals...
