Front Page Really slow to load

As for the front page slow loads, I get A LOT of "transferring data", "waiting", "transferring date" etc. over and over before it loads. Takes several seconds. Are you using some sort of "load the entire page before displaying it" that might make it go way slower?

Front Page Really slow to load

Yep, website is very slow for me too on my 20MBps line, especially the front page it seems. Using Firefox 3 in Vista if that has any relevance. Forums seem fast.

Help reign in a player who refuses to play his role

He sounds like a horrible group player. How do the other players feel about him? Sounds like a classic attention-seeking person to me from the description. In the groups I've GM'd lately, we've had some set "You guys are friends, so can we keep the selfish "I steal the treasure while the...

Must be an Idiot - How do I search forums?

I'm dirt poor, so although I love EN World, I'm not a community supporter. However, you can make searches on EN World through Google, like this: Type in: site:enworld.org searchstring So: site:enworld.org mage hand Would pop up a bunch of old forum threads containing it, only from EN...

How do you heal outside a fight?

A priest could still cast a healing spell on them forcing them to spend a surge, right? And by "using the heal skill on you", do you mean to spend that healing surge, or is there some rule about bringing characters back to 1hp through that skill?

D&D 4E Questions about move and attack - and my newfound disappointment with 4E reach

Well in a variety of ways. Its more challenging for the players, they get more eager to get to slay the beast and they can opt to use clever tricks to bypass these defenses. At least my group likes that stuff, but I get the feeling from reading some of these responses that I should keep any...

D&D 4E Questions about move and attack - and my newfound disappointment with 4E reach

Yep that would have been the tactic for the kobolds in that case. But I just found out from Eldorian that the player can just stop moving. I can still see my players being brutish enough to just continue the charge though, enabling this tactic :)

D&D 4E Questions about move and attack - and my newfound disappointment with 4E reach

That's what I was looking for, thanks. I don't get the snide comment directed at me though, since I specifically asked the question to know if this was possible for the player, listing two tactically advantageous examples for the kobolds if this were not the case. Thanks to all the posters for...

D&D 4E Questions about move and attack - and my newfound disappointment with 4E reach

Another (almost) completely useless monster ability then, unless the character spends -exactly- his speed in getting there. I just don't see the great "hurrah!" for such abilities then, if they in essence are meaningless most of the time, unless used in very tactical situations like: It shifts...

D&D 4E Questions about move and attack - and my newfound disappointment with 4E reach

Ah, no worries :) I'm sure that might be the case, yeah. It seems there is a distinct lack of "threatening reach", and I'd reason that a creature like an ancient dragon would at least be able to bite/tail slap someone before they come up to them, but I think it needs to be moderated a lot...

D&D 4E Questions about move and attack - and my newfound disappointment with 4E reach

I'm not comparing with 3rd edition at all. I'm not out to "screw" anyone, and I'm frankly insulted at that notion. My group has always enjoyed reach elements in combat, in any game system we've used, believe it or not. Also, from what I have read so far, its mostly the players who will be...

D&D 4E Questions about move and attack - and my newfound disappointment with 4E reach

That... is so boring :( Ah well, thanks for clarifying. And I found the "resume action" bit on the same page (290), so all "rules rightness" is hereby sorted (until the next questions comes along). Its so dull though, but I guess we'll work through it. Thanks again.

D&D 4E Questions about move and attack - and my newfound disappointment with 4E reach

Explain this to me please? It clearly states "Reach: 2" in its entry in the Monster Manual. *confused*

D&D 4E Questions about move and attack - and my newfound disappointment with 4E reach

Yeah, but I have a hard time finding the ruling to sway me fully to its "correctness". That said, B is definitely the more fun approach for both the players and me. (my players won't whine about it, they'll be surprised and good-type-of-angry wanting to kill the Ettin even more hehe).

D&D 4E Questions about move and attack - and my newfound disappointment with 4E reach

Having read and re-read the combat chapter in the PHB, I am left confused as to what happens if something interrupts a move using a move action. Example: A character with movement 6 want to move in and attack an Ettin 3 squares away. He declares that he will use his move action to move to the...

Awesome :D If I get time later, I will be throwing in some ideas as well, but yeah, having the books will certainly help with balance etc. I'm looking forward to following it all :)

Druids and Bards (Malcolm_N versions and others)

I happen to play in a great game which we would like to convert to 4E. Now the problem is 2 of the 3 player's are playing classes which don't exist in 4th Edition yet. Now I looked through a "Updated Classes OCC" pdf file created by Malcolm_N and VBMEW-01, and I liked what I saw.. however, that...

    Ranger > Warlock

Which works fine in 4E too, now that we have the similarly named Warlord and Warlock. I've already confused these names countless times :S
