There are excellent, detailed monster building rules in the GMG.

Yep, lots of DM advice, useful random tables, variant rules etc plus comprehensive monster design rules (which Kobold Press designers follow when creating monsters for ToV books too). I really like the Game Master’s Guide.

I use ToV monsters from the Monster Vault in my mostly 2014 Tomb of Annihilation game without any problems. Monsters are tougher and tend to have additional flavourful bonus actions or reactions.

I agree with Whizbang about Buried in the Bahamas. We're five sessions into the adventure and there is a lot to explore and expand upon. My plan is to move onto Curse of Skeleton Point next.

yep, I’m comfortable with it but Roll20 + Beyond20 makes playing D&D easier!

I don’t really have any tips but paper characters are one of the joys of playing at the table for me - although I find D&D Beyond helpful for online play. I keep my characters sheets in clear plastic folders along with any handouts etc. My Cthulhu character’s health & stability have been rubbed...
