    No Familiars?

Maybe you could be less condescending, please? Just a thought. This is fun! Your turn. Actually, the rest of your post kinda proves that you can. It's just that the prior comment sounded a lot like "my friends are better than yours". Especially the captial "people YOU play with". I tend to...

D&D 4E 4e -- Is The World Made Of Cheese?

    That actually sounds really awesome.

    No Animate Dead?

Yeah, it's an evil act, but my character used it for good time and time again, and in all other respects was a good character. That doesn't make me evil. That makes me neutral. I never said it wasn't an evil act. I said I shouldn't be disallowed from performing evil acts for good purposes if I...

D&D 4E Tell me about your 4e combats (and 2h weapons)

Actually, it was 2 less due to the human having 18 str vs. dwarf's 16 con and being a human for +1 to all defenses. It had more AC, more fortitude, more attack bonus, and 2 less average damage. And that was with a greataxe. If I had a greatsword, I would have done LESS damage than a guy with a...

    Dewl barsturd swordz yo!

PS - You could dual wield bastard swords in 3e. This is not a 4e change.

D&D 4E 4e -- Is The World Made Of Cheese?

Actually if you have a really good Endurance check it could feasibly take much longer. I don't understand why this is even listed. After 4 days without water, most people are already dead. It's not because they're not tough, it's because your body requires water as a fuel source. The only thing...

D&D 4E 4e -- Is The World Made Of Cheese?

That, and why do people think a lack of hardness would only apply to a wall and not to the thing they are banging against it? Punching an adamantite wall would give you broken knuckles, not a hole. I don't need hardness rules, because I know that adamantite is harder than flesh and bone.

    Dewl barsturd swordz yo!

Seriously. With Monkey grip I could not only put claymores in both hands and butcher people, but I could put a GIANT CLAYMORE in my main hand. But hey, let's call 4e anime, even though you can swing larger weapons in 3e. ^_^

D&D 4E Tell me about your 4e combats (and 2h weapons)

After more thought, I realized that we finished 3 combats plus a noncombat encounter in just under 3 hours. That is pretty significant, considering the same thing in 3e could have taken my group upwards of 6 hours.

    Attributes and Builds

Seriously, why is the Warlord so Str dependent? It's kind of silly.

Am I missing something? Spellcasters and armor?

Fighters benefit from a high wisdom stat, maybe you can use that to represent what you're after. What type of character are you after? It seriously sounds as if the rogue class would fit better with what you're trying to do. Your style of fighter probably isn't going to wear heavy armor anyhow...

    Game day adventure

Yeah, those statues were SICK. I'm still having flashbacks of big statues knocking people to the ground and stomping all over them. I got to peek at their stats, those suckers had 86 friggin' HP! Each!

    Attributes and Builds

That'd make you more versatile, but less powerful overall. Definitely viable, unless "viable" only means "as powerful as possible", much like it did in 3e.

    Tissue-Paper Dungeons?

Well...to tell you the truth most dungeon walls should be able to be tunneled through. The problem is that it would take a really long time. Stone can be tunneled through with picks, hammers, and such, but it takes a while. I don't see why an arrow or sword would perform this task more quickly...

    No Familiars?

Exactly as much information as the DM was going to give you anyway.

    Game day adventure

Yeah I'm with you on that one. My first action was leaping over a different sarcophagus after the other fighter did exactly what you did, and then smacking a hobgoblin with a greataxe. Good times!
  18. Old Gumphrey

    Game day adventure

Yeah, your DM was awful. The encounter with the statues is VERY difficult, our party was almost killed due to a bad roll streak. The statues were capable of knocking you to the ground with a hit, then getting to hit anyone on the ground with a free action. Although I imagine you guys probably...

D&D 4E Tell me about your 4e combats (and 2h weapons)

I went to D&D game day today, and I was expecting a streamlined, speedy combat system. While it was pretty darn streamlined, and everyone ALWAYS had something cool to do with their character, it didn't really seem any faster than 3e combat. At least not significantly so. I'm thinking it might be...

Take out one, or damage many...

Since D&D doesn't attach any real penalties for wounded fighters, it's almost always best to kill one at a time. Area damage lessens the overall fight time, so I'd say a combination of area damage and focus fire would be the best method. Especially since classes with lots of area damage (IE...
