    D&D 5E (2014) House Rule Sanity Check

Some of it looks pretty interesting. I am fine with passive perception honestly taking a more leading roll for general checks unless you need to focus on something. That just makes the game a bit smoother to run. I don't however, like passive initiative. Unless you are going to incorporate...

D&D 5E (2014) What are some examples in media of Twilight Cleric-esque characters?

I don't know if I would call her a priestess/cleric of twilight or darkness, but Tyrande Whisperwind (from wow) is a priestess of the moon. I think that could share some motifs of twilight domain. That is certainly what I would probably choose if I were trying to fit her into 5e.

D&D 5E (2014) Have the designers lost interest in short rests?

Unsure if there was a survey on this, but it could be adapting to how the customer uses the product. Meaning, if they have data on how many people use whatever number of short rests in their groups, it could indicate that the 6-8 encounter day while an assumption, is not the typical in play. I...

    D&D General Single class party?

Agreed. However for this group. I can already picture many nights around the fire as a sort of drum circle. When we play bards we get pretty zany.

    D&D General Single class party?

I would probably play any single class party if presented with that. We did have a joke about an all bard party that some of us started talking about actually doing.

    D&D 5E (2014) Post Apoc 5e settings?

I took part in the kickstarter for this, as my next home game is going to take place in something similar. I am enjoying what I like so far from these resources. So I would recommend them. With this I am going to make a high fantasy gritty world. Yeah there is some crazy magic (and tech) but...

    Cleric Won't Heal?

Oh I agree. Clerics are built to be one of the best healers in the game. I just don't expect a War or Tempest cleric (among other domains) to be slinging healing spells all combat long. I think this ends up depending on whether you see HP as meat or not. Generally, at the tables I play, you are...

    D&D 5E (2014) Epic Monsters: Grendel's Mother

This is great, but you missed the feature: And the Humanoid form looks and sounds like a 2007 Angelina Jolie. ;D

    Cleric Won't Heal?

Currently playing a zealot barbarian in a campaign. We have no dedicated healer (he died and got sucked into a portal to Heck. (Unfortunately that was a session I had to miss or I would have used my items to save him). Even when we had the cleric (Tempest) I was fine with him not just being a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Killed Me a Lawful Stupid Paladin

The image of a guy curbstomping surprised knights got me.

    D&D 5E (2014) Killed Me a Lawful Stupid Paladin

Sure. Just not typically something you'd have a lvl 15 (or CR5) NPC doing. Maybe you have that kind of proliferation of high level stuff in your campaign world. Strikes me and it seems like some others, as a bit odd is all.

    D&D 5E (2014) Killed Me a Lawful Stupid Paladin

I don't understand what you said here as more context really. You said they were Imperial guard, the PCs or the Elvish Navy? If the latter, then why would a lawful Paladin go up against lawful agents of an Empire? So this half-elf said they were carrying the finest gladiators on board. Okay...

    D&D 5E (2014) Killed Me a Lawful Stupid Paladin

I think the problem comes about that in D&D if you were an individual that had become that powerful (CR 5), they wouldn't tend to be guards to any old ship captain. We're talking the same CR as a Hill Giant. That is a tough cookie. Why are they hanging around on this ship? How have they not been...

    D&D 5E (2014) Killed Me a Lawful Stupid Paladin

I guess I fail to see how being Lawful Good played into someone deciding to pick a fight? Is it lawful and good to just start duels? And why was the Paladin fighting for an apology? Did this Captain get uppity because the PC ship beat them into harbor? This feels like it is missing a lot of...

    D&D and the rising pandemic

Ugh. Come home state... catch the drift that COVID-19 is still a thing. Daily cases rising pretty high here atm.

D&D General Which Edition Had the Best Ranger?

First time I played a Ranger was 3.5. It was a pretty fun romp. Got him up to lvl 19. Had some amazing weapons and armor for him. He was the bane of the DM. Until he got banished back to the Prime Material plane. Ah well, at least he didn't die.

D&D General The Best Non-D&D System for Each D&D Setting

See... I think Eberon could totally be pulled off with the Iron Kingdoms ruleset. WarJacks would make pretty intimidating "Warforged".

D&D 5E (2014) Jeremy Crawford Discusses Details on Custom Origins

I am not sure I am missing the point. I think we just see these optional rules differently. Nothing wrong with that. Tropes will survive this. The drunken Dwarf Fighter will still be a played and iconic character. Woodsy Elven Rangers will still reign supreme in all things Ranger.

D&D 5E (2014) Jeremy Crawford Discusses Details on Custom Origins

I am on board as long as it isn't an all Gnome party. ;) I don't know yet either. I will probably play it by ear. If people want it, it is there. I will probably see more mileage out of it when world building and I suppose if I ever get back into the AL circuit.
