    Kingdom of Heaven

It's not doing so well at RottenTomatoes, running at 44% at the moment. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/kingdom_of_heaven/ I was thinking about seeing this over the weekend, but it sounds like it's more like a rental. I've grown to trust RT since it's an aggregate of many reviewers, so the...

    LOST 5/4/05 Spoilers, of course!

Great episode as others have stated. The interplay between Locke and Sayid was well done. Sayid is becoming a great character. Jack walking away from the injured Locke at the end was also a great scene. I was also happy to be able to do the "I told you so" dance to my girlfriend when Locke...

    Looking for a t shirt

You're right Arwink, it was Dr Midnight with the t-shirts, but google has failed me in trying to locate them.

    1421: The Year China Discovered...

PBS did an interesting show about this book and it's theories, which they largely debunked. http://www.pbs.org/previews/1421/ Nonetheless as Talien points out there were some neat ideas there. I like the idea of tying it to an elven nation, but you could also just use an advanced human...

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (merged)

    You are correct sir! ;)

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (merged)

Saw it this afternoon, and gave it a 7. I've never read the books, but being a geek I was still familiar with much of it. The principal actors were all great in their roles, with Rockwell as Zaphod being most memorable. The movie itself had trouble with the pacing and storytelling as it went...

    Another new Batman Begins trailer

Looks good  Interesting effect on Scarecrows mask, definately ups the 'creepiness'. I'm guessing it along with the flame breathing horse are hallucinations from the viewpoint of people under his fear gas or whatever.

    Lost: the Journey

I go with the theory that if they show something like that, it's definately not what it appears. If Locke really does bite it, that would be lame that they would have 'spoiled' it like that. So I'm guessing dream/flashback sequence, or "just a flesh wound". ;) RedShirt, thanks I think...

Liefeld to draw issues of Teen Titans. Comics fans mourn.

Ugh... I haven't been collecting comics for years. I'm just shocked that this putz is still getting paid by someone as an "artist". It's laughable.

    Lost: the Journey

Watched the whole thing even though it wasn't anything new. Was nice to see things in sequence again after all the breaks we've had. Two things I thought were interesting. 1) Which my girlfriend brought up. They haven't seen or heard from the "monster" in the forest since Locke had his...

    Wanna see Brandon Routh's Superman?

    Good job Klaus! Much improved.

    Wanna see Brandon Routh's Superman?

I'm dissappointed... The "S" is way too small. The "s" on the belt is redundant and lame. The colors are darker on purpose, and that I guess I'm not sure about yet, will probably depend on how it looks in palette of the finished film.

George R. R. Martin has a new sample up!

Good catch! I have the SoS trade paperback edition and was dissappointed at first to see this posted as a "new" sample. That coin addition is an interesting tidbit :]

    Word Processor or Legal Pad?

For the writing process I'm still a Pen & Paper guy myself. I think it's mostly for the freedom of flow you have... you can doodle a diagram of a door or trap or whatever right in the middle of writing.

    London Bridge is falling down

Right, and I've never heard of this "salt & pepper" verse either.

What fantasy series will the author finish first?

I voted SoIaF for two reasons. 1) I think GRRM will knock out the book after Feast pretty quickly. From everything I've read he had a decent idea of where things were going, but decided midstream to flesh out alot of details that he had originally planned to just skip over, and it became FoC...

where does the line 'today is a good day to die' originate?

It is correct, I went with my girlfriend to a lecture given by Wilma Mankiller* who wrote the book "_Every day is a good day_", and she talked about the origins of the title and how it related to the famous war cry. Basically it's part of a philosophy of courage and optimism, and how life isn't...

    Lost 4/6/05 SPOILERS!

Me too, too bad we have to wait another month again :( It's unfortunate that there was so much talk about someone dying before it happened. (Including the commercial in the middle of the show tonight saying ... "see the Lost cast member that everyone will be talking about tomorrow morning on...

    LOST 3/30/05 Spoilers!

I just wanted to bump this with something that came up in conversation about the episode later. It seems like the Island tricked Locke to get him alone before opening the hatch. It gave him the vision and led him to the plan, weakened him so that Boone went alone and got injured... then Locke...

    Sin City

Saw it yesterday... meh... I gave it a generous 6. My take on it has already been summed up pretty well by Takyris, Pants, and Gomez. (For reference, I read the original Sin City comic when it came out, but not the others. Also I loved Kill Bill.)
