    Turning undead - new system

I think I would combine the CD version with a one additional option... Command Undead: any cleric can command undead through the channeling of positive or negative energy (depending on his alignment). Any undead within 30ft of the caster make a will save with a DC = 10 + cleric level + cha mod...

    Encouraging Elven Player Characters

I do like my elves, also note that as stated in a previous post, my elves are not the standard. They age just as fast as humans do until they finish puberty. Then they stop aging completely. And you are right, they are not as fertile as humans, but they are hardly so infertile that they can not...

IIRC it was the centauri that sold the terrans jump gate technology.

d20 Future and Hard SF - some random thoughts

technically it isn't a gravity well. It is the centripetal effect caused by the linear inertia of objects within a rotating frame of reference. In general, yes. B5 was fairly hard sci-fi for the humans up till the last couple of seasons. Though the presence of psykers and the...

    Encouraging Elven Player Characters

I am not anti-elf. I am anti-(elitist elf fanboyism with a subrace that is better than all other options for every single class) eh, elves IMC don't have a particularly low birth rate. Firtile ~twice a year vs human ~12/year. But then again, they remain fertile from the age of 15 to whenever...

    Trained animals with character levels?

I can not seem to find a specific 3.5 rule forbidding it, Just that monsters advance by hit dice, and that "intelligent" monsters often advance by class instead. The specific definition of "intelligent" is not stated. Though I interperet that to mean intelligence of 3 or greater. I wouldn't go...

    Trained animals with character levels?

shure, it can happen. All you have to do is awaken it first.

Trying to create a modern-ish-like campaign setting

The d20 modern section of the WotC boards are, IMO, far more friendly than the D&D and other sections. Its quite shocking to see the difference on the occasions that I visit the D&D section. I believe the vehicle thread he was refering to is this...

What would you like to see in a WW2 era pulp rpg

Hmm. Yes. WW2 is already rife with the occult and "superscience". Why not ramp it up. What if the Thule society did wield magic? What if russian military psychic research was fruitful? What if the cult of the emporer drew power from thier complete devotion? What if the germans finished the bomb...

Why is SR necessary to the game?

you also have 3 different flavors of armor class: normal, touch, flatfooted. so the arguement that saves are more complex than AC on account of flavor number doesn't seem to apply.

How to lower spellbook size/cost (some ranting then actual ideas)

You guys complaining about spellbooks should reread the descriptions again. The 2 free spells / level that a wizard gets cost no gold, and no time to scribe. They are assumed to have been worked on as the character levels. You don't have to spend time and gold to keep your spellbook...

How to create undead/constructs/robots using a point buy system?

really yes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentient when most people think of sentience they really mean sapience http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sapience or more accurately sophontistry http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sophont

How to create undead/constructs/robots using a point buy system?

technically sentient means the ability to feel pain. So any robot with a damage detection & avoidance system is sentient. This might mean the creature should have a con, or it might not, as con encompasses a lot more than just handling pain.

    changing the healing spells

Or you could change the cures to heal a percentage of the targets HP. CLW cures 1d2 * caster level % of the targets max hp. CMW cures 1d4 * caster level % of the targets max hp. CSW cures 1d6 * caster level % of the targets max hp. CCW cures 1d8 * caster level % of the targets max hp. or...

    Encouraging Elven Player Characters

IMC elves try, almost desperately, to be close to nature. It probably has something to do with thier unnatural origins at the hands of a necromancer king. The ritual was supposed to turn the entire race into unstoppable undead killing machines. It failed. Though they lost some constitution, and...

    weapon speeds

well... you might be able to balance weapon speed with a change in reach. XLong = reach++, time++ Long = reach+,time+ Med = no change Short = reach-, time- Xshort = reach--,time-- Time is the rate of iterative attacks with the formula BAB -TX > 1. The base for T is 5. The advantage of a reach...

    Decisions for a campain setting?

I am aware of the OGL and d20 STL, using "D&D" i wouldn't need to reprint anything, nor would I want to. Though I suppose I could have picked a better term to use, though I do not consider "D20" to be descriptive enough considering the multitude of variants out there. I have read a few reviews...

    Decisions for a campain setting?

The name is not the most important of the questions I asked, but it is the first one that I asked myself. Initially, I will be posting to the website. Eventually I would like to publish as PDF or (very) optimistically even print. The important question is what system to use? core D&D, core D&D...
