The closest I can offer you is Castles and Crusades, set in Greyhawk. We play every Tuesday from 8 PM to 11, maybe midnight, YOUR time. We use SKYPE and Maptools. It is very 1E in feel, as far as Castles and Crusades goes, and it uses ascending AC.

    AD&D Reprint review

Yeah, they stayed as true to the originals as possible, but with this they had to create the first true digital "copy" of these books, and for the art they had to use scanned and then cleaned up copies of the original printings. So some detail was definitely lost in the artwork due to the...

    Sci-Fi System Recommendations

Traveller, just create a small system with several planets and mining complexes scattered throughout with a whole bunch of problems needing solving. Resolution is roll 2d6, add skill ranks and attribute mods plus situational modifiers. Beat an 8 after all mods, and you succeed. This is how both...

Classic Traveller Target Number for rolls

Yeah, just look at the action to be taken itself, and make your determinations based off that. The only reason I look at what ranks the characters have is to make sure I am giving them a chance, even if it is only if they roll double 6's. Unless it is truly impossible, then I set it at 18, so in...

Classic Traveller Target Number for rolls

You can actually make it easier too, such as making it as low as 3, and only if failing the roll would have game significance. Otherwise, as in any game, just assume success. Plus it does not have to be in increments of 2, and it can go + or -. You make the modifier what you feel it needs to be...

    Confidence in WotC

Frankly, I don't really care anymore. I am glad they are doing the reprints, especially for 1E. I've just realized I am no longer their "target audience", and am actually glad I am not. Its been very liberating. So they can keep on however they wish, I don't care. I am more than happy with my...

Converting the Warlock to Castles & Crusades

I did it the way I did to make it fit in with the power scale of the monsters, etc... in C&C. IF your doing a higher power scale, such as using 3E monsters, then scaling it at d6 and allowing it every round would work. Like I said, my suggestion was a suggestion for you to modify to work for...

Converting the Warlock to Castles & Crusades

This is how I adopted some aspect from 4E. think it might work for you situation with some modifications, and if you think it warrants it, give them a unique XP chart that make them progress a little bit slower than a normal "Wizard". I wouldn't, they have to choose between casting a spell, or...

2d6 roll target number or higher - mechanics

You can buy new compiled print copies of Classic from Far Future Enterprises. If you want to see it in its original format the $35 CD's are a awesome deal. They contain LOTS of material.

2d6 roll target number or higher - mechanics

The target number in Mongoose is 8. Classic had variable target numbers based on how difficult is was perceived to be. I don't recall those numbers because I have been running Mongoose for too long. In Mongoose Traveller you add bonus from skill and attributes, identical to level and...

Pathfinder 1E Sticker shock, or Why Paizo and Other Online Vendors have sent me back to Mead

This is why I wait until my orders get over $100. I get seriously discounted shipping form many places, if not free, and it also has the benefit of taking the per item cost of shipping down dramatically. So yes, I agree, ordering only one or two cheap items is stupid, but waiting to order 5 or...

In your opinion, the VERY BEST adventure product to come out in the last two years.

While I agree, the OP asked what came out in the last TWO years. Which is why I haven't mentioned Red Hand of Doom, or talked in detail about Doom of Listonshire, etc... While I am at it, if your into 4E the Goodman Games City of Punjar modules are pretty darn good.

In your opinion, the VERY BEST adventure product to come out in the last two years.

Slumbering Tsar and The Black Monastery are the most recent I have come across. I haven't run Slumbering Tsar, only read it, but it has tons of maps, which means tons of encounters and variety, and one of the most awesome antagonists of all time in D&D, Orcus. The Black Monastery was a...
