    D&D 4E 4E at the Printers!

The GSL got TPK'ed by a group of Hasbro Suits and their Lawyer Minions. It was a horrible battle. The problem is, the GSL was only heroic level, BUT it still had a destiny to complete so they are waiting on the ruling of the DM to see if they can resurrect it for it's second battle.

    D&D 4E 4E at the Printers!

Glorious day for that! NOTHING so far. I have been impressed with their ability to keep it under wraps.

    D&D 4E 4e Character Sheet, by Neceros

I second that!! The simplicity of 4e reminds a little of Moldvay Basic D&D. Although it is more complicated, from what I have seen they have captured the spirit. Just can't wait to get a hold of the rules and fully find out!!

    D&D 4E 4e Healing - Is This Right?

Hit points do not represent actual physical damage. They represent your ability to avoid actual physical damage. Sometimes your suspension of disbelief will run up against the concept of hit points. In which case I suggest making them match. Your example was a person falling out of a four...

D&D 4E 4E Mechanics can reduce the need for combat!

I use a grid for some combat (with dry erase markets and a laminated 1/2" grid 32"x40"), and I use a 'narrative' style for others (although I have never would have labeled them 'narrative').

D&D 4E My 4e House Rules that have nothing to do with 1-2-1 movement

It's a deeply intellectual thing to discuss too. 1-1-1 or 1-2-1. It's almost better than actually playing the game. And it affects so much in the game besides the obvious: movement, slide, push, pull, and shift. If I say to to one of my players "Hey Roger, slide the Cheeto's over" I have...

D&D 4E My 4e House Rules that have nothing to do with 1-2-1 movement

That took a little getting use to last night. But afterwards when we where talking we all felt it helped the gameplay to just think in terms of squares, instead of feet, ranges, squares, etc. Not much of a difference, but enough to notice. Which summed our little play test experience. A lot...

    D&D 4E 4E Liker - anything you worry about?

Game by nerds for nerds. Their will be plenty of boobs!! My biggest fear is rules for opportunaty attacks vs. boobs. How are they going to handle that?!

D&D 4E My 4e House Rules that have nothing to do with 1-2-1 movement

Our first play test was last night with the pre-gen characters (and the Rogue Pre-Gen that can be found here on Enworld), and we had some house rules come up right away. The action point reroll for daily power was one we put in during third combat. Another use for action points was adding to...

    Monster Design--from a designer's standpoint

It will work fro my campaign and I do not have to make money off it. :)

    Monster Design--from a designer's standpoint

I thought at first it should be against reflex too, but then for encounter purposes, what does the -4 ac do? I thought it complimented that ability with keeping true to 3.x version of the monster. Slide 2 would make sense. Because it did not hit and get that extra oommph from pushing off from...

    Monster Design--from a designer's standpoint

Orcus, Here is the conversion I am using for the first encounter in 'The Wizards Amulet'. I used a Human berserker level 3 brute and a Gnoll level 6 brute stats respectively, and made the abilities up based on 3e descriptions and damage. It was fun, easy, and FAST! I am liking this! Reminds...

    Monster Design--from a designer's standpoint

The majority of people are blinded by the frameworks that exist in our lives. It is an uncommon individual that can look at the framework from the outside and realize the intent behind the structure. That is why I am jazzed about 4th edition. I think it is a fine evolution and synergy of...

    Monster Design--from a designer's standpoint

It's not that you couldn't. You could. Easy. But previous to the concept of 4th edition monster design, it would not gain easy acceptance from the community. If you are actually publishing your work for general consumption, you need to stay as close to the 'mean' as possible in order to take...

Anyone else coming back into the fold because of 4.0?

Glad I could help! I just downloaded your 3e version. I am going to try to convert it today for my 2nd 4th edition playtest tonight. Last night we played 4e for the first time. Went good. The game play impressed my players and I. Even the guy that if given any kind of powers to rifle...
