    Who lives in Washington DC?

Dulles isn't bad, really. It is much better than Heathrow or Charles de Gaulle, IMHO. Reagan National is much closer to DC, but BWI is pretty far out, too, so it wouldn't have been much better.

    Last Issue of Dungeon

I got my last issue of Dungeon. It was good, but I was actually surprised by how sad I was when I got to the list of signatures from the folks at the end. Goodbye to something I've enjoyed for years, and kudos to the folks who put it together. P.S.: I also thought it nice that Wizards bought...

    Gaming stores in Cleveland

I'm going to be relocating to Cleveland, and I was wondering what's in that area in terms of gaming stores. Here in Northern Virginia, there are at least 3 different gaming stores within 40 minutes of my place.

    Who lives in Washington DC?

If you're going to be in downtown DC, you want to stay downtown. Traffic and transit time makes going out of the city a pain. DC has some of the WORST traffic of any city in the U.S. Air and Space is very cool, but check out some of the others on the Web. Natural History and American History...

Ebberon - If not guns, then what?

You're assuming that the cost of a musket in the real world has any relevance to the cost in the DMG. The DMG price seems to be based on presumed rarity as much as on actual cost to manufacture. In a world like Eberron, you could assume that mass production techniques would make guns much...

    LGS in Arlington

Just because nobody mentioned it, I'll mention Dream Wizards in Rockville, MD. It's near the White Flint Mall on Parklawn Dr. If you game in the DC area, Dream Wizards, Complete Strategist, and Game Parlor are the three stores that most cater to your tastes. I've shopped at all three, and...

    Looking for Dragonstar resources

If you haven't got the adventures from Mystic Eye Games, I've got them for sale cheap. Just follow the link in my sig. Having said that -- I'm curious if anybody ever updated the DragonStar materials to 3.5 online.

    OotS 464

This was a good strip. It had far more depth (both in terms of character and message) than anybody has any right to expect from a Webcomic about stick figures in a role-playing game. Miko was annoying, but she was also a completely believable character -- people like that exist in real life...

Soon is the founder of the Sapphire Guard, not Lord Shojo, the currently dead former ruler of Azure City with the cat. You're confusing them. Also, the gate cannot be moved, so #4 is no good. Why would she commit suicide? That would imply taking responsibility for her actions, something she...

Miko has a "Jump to Conclusions" mat. Still a bad idea. PC Load Letter.

    Trading commodities in D&D

Traveller used to have a fairly comprehensive trading system in their book on merchants. FFE has been selling compilations of those books reprinted, so it should be easy to find and adapt.

    Hot Fuzz

I thought it was the funniest movie so far this year. Some folks might not get some of the humor about city vs. country, or the ultracompetitive village of the year competitions, but there is still plenty to laugh at. It also helps if you've seen some of the referenced buddy cop films and/or...

    ErfWorld

I read it...but Order of the Stick definitely gives it a coat tail effect. I don't know if I would bother if it wasn't on the same host. Parson is just too obnoxious a main character to draw me back every week if it wasn't convenient, and his situation is so ridiculous that even HE can't take...

    An Introduction to Planescape

Well, there are some basic, standard ways of introducing planar/dimensional travel: 1) Heroes follow somebody, a la Jack Chalker's GOD Incorporated. 2) Heroes accidentally stumble through a portal, a la Chronicles of Narnia. 3) Heroes invent or find a portal, a la Sliders. 4) Somebody...

Why burn a slay living first if you have destruction? I could see trying poison or bestow curse first, but destruction is more likely to work vs. a high level cleric, and it would do more damage with a save. (Also, shouldn't we see the cleric's injuries after slay living? It still does...

    Nostalgia for Our Magazines

I really used to like SnarfQuest, too... The current collection of comics is also very good. I read Nodwick, Order of the Stick, and Dork Tower first thing with the latest issues. I miss Foglio's Phil and Dixie, though.

    Nostalgia for Our Magazines

The purpose of this thread isn't to discuss the decision to stop publishing Dungeon and Dragon. It is to talk about some of the things we loved about it over the years, and to say thank you to all the folks that made it possible. I'm pretty Zen about the whole thing. After the whole thing...

what is the deadliest Ice/Snow monster

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Shoggoth. Check out Call of Cthulu...the D20 version from WotC. Then read some Lovecraft for inspiration. It's nastier than you would expect a mutant polar bear to be...
