When do we REALLY need house rules? Really?

My Universal House Rules aren't too bad. If I ever compiled all my d20 Modern fixes in one place, it'd blanket the whole Earth, I swear. I only made a 20+ page house rule book once. I haven't felt the desire to do so since.

The Pleasure Prison of the B'thuvian Demon Whore on PDF sale.

At the very least, keep it on sale until they send my damn credit card bill! I can't buy anything online until I've made last month's payment. :(

    Stupid anti d&d christians...

Welcome indeed! Sorry you didn't join under more favourable circumstances. There will always be people out there who will believe anything they read. Just let them wallow in their ignorance and move on. They aren't worth any of your time. That's the best thing to do.

    College Woes

There aren't enough mama's boys in the world. Good for you! Setting out will be difficult at first, but just remember that your family is proud of you. And talk to them on the phone a lot. That helps. And if you need an online gaming group, mine meets Sunday nights to play Urban Arcana... :)

Estimating character levels of a population with math

Actually, those stastistics can come in very handy. It's the "default" for determining what is a normal community in a standard D&D setting. Some of us actually want to know these things, especially me. I noticed that on EN World people were often complaining about how "high-magic" standard...

Tamlyn, you should subscribe to the thread I have in this forum for my game. We regularly post the times I'll be running the game.

    What do I run?

Ah, but the randomness is already factored into this proposed combat system via extra damage for exceeding the target's Defense roll, just like in Grim-n-Gritty. I've been using average damage with Grim-n-Gritty in playtests, and it works so much better.

We have turned off unregistered posting in this forum!

I have been considering doing just that, to see what would happen. Probably with a dummy account... just in case. :uhoh:

A completely new system - Is there any interest?

Fact of the matter is, you can't have an arrow ready all the time. That would be exhausting. You might have it nocked, but holding the bowstring back all day would wear you out fast. Your example situation was both monster and archer becoming aware of one another at a distance of 60 feet. To...

    Flanking

Well, it wasn't my idea. I was just echoing that idea from that other thread. Don't discount the value of a +2 bonus! At low levels that is a serious advantage. A +2 bonus lets a 2nd-level Fighter Power Attack for an extra 4 damage with a two-handed weapon, without losing any chance to hit...

Prepare for electronic bombardment! Seriously, a program to generate these statistics would be a GODSEND, sir!

    Non-Core Class Survivor: Round 7

Die, die, die! *hacks at the Artificer in Black Mage-esque fury* What? Edit: Hear, hear! It's irrational, the level of dislike. You don't see Japanese and Chinese saying knights and plate mail are stupid! And a well-developed D&D world should have a multitude of cultures. Worldwide Europe...

    Flanking

How about this? For every additional character who used their last action to attack your target with a melee attack and who still threatens the target, you gain a +1 bonus on attack rolls. If you are flanking the target, you gain an additional +1 bonus and can sneak attack if you have the ability.

    What do I run?

Grim-n-Gritty Revised and Simplified, Elements of Magic (Revised or Mythic Earth). But I still use classes and levels. Sometimes I let the classes be a little more flexible (via the Classically Modern generic classes), but they still have to take classes and follow that structure. You might...

Sniper scopes - how to model?

I think you're asking about telescopic scopes, which are quite different than the scopes listed in the d20 Modern core rulebook. Notes from the Bunker has a good variant rule for scopes with different magnification. I've attached the pdf of that article to this post. For regular scopes, the...

Magic Dragon Games was recently renovated. I picked up one of their d6s when I stopped in to take a look, but I haven't been back yet. Problem is, they're in the opposite direction of where I'm gaming right now (Caldwell). If I got more Boise gamers involved, I'd be happy to host the game...

What makes a Campaign setting Interesting to You?

No problem. :) I hope I didn't misrepresent myself. I do like classic settings, but there has to be something noticeable that sets it apart from others.
