    The simple joys in life

Sunshine. The smell of fresh cut grass. The smell after a summer rain shower. Walking alone or with my girlfriend on a warm spring or autumn day. That smoky autumn smell. Walking alone through a city, feeling it around me and feeling connected to the city. Aurora borealis on a cold winter...

    Most embarassing gaming moment?

Heh heh, that's hilarious! Aber ich kann ein bisschen deutsch sprechen. :p I think I've made similar mistakes in English, but no specifics leap to mind, unfortunately.

My 13 year old Daughter and her friends are playing D&D in the Kitchen...

It depends. As a middle schooler in Saskatoon, we were certainly not encouraged in this endeavor and had at least one teacher that was openly hostile. Didn't really stop us, but it did make it more difficult to play and I ended up not playing again until high school.

Because there's more motion in the ocean...

Aha. I was not familiar with that particular piece of info. Interesting. Absolutely, Frigatude it is! Are the foundry's building other frigates/ships of the line going to make them ironclads as well, or will they be more traditional sailing ships? Is it possible we might be at the point...

Because there's more motion in the ocean...

It's somewhat more complicated than that, as the Frigate classification goes up to ~60 guns and the power of a broadside can vary depending on the weight of the guns (long cannon/carronade and the variations therein). I believe the Constitution may have been originally built as a 44 gun ship...

Because there's more motion in the ocean...

It's a bit smaller than the Constitution, which had 44 guns, but probably comparable as a frigate.

230 years since the Battle of Lexington and Concord

Cranky Upstarts 2 HM Veterans 1 (OT) When I lived in Boston, Patriot's Day was among my favorite holidays...still is really, I just don't get up there for it, really. Nothing like beautiful weather and the festive atmosphere surrounding the Marathon... Good times... :)

do you play any non-d20 games? If so, what?

I don't get much opportunity to play non-d20 stuff these days (stupid d20 focused group ;)) BUT when I can: Shadowrun 3E (for now): My game of choice, I run a game for my Boston friends when I'm up and there's time, as well as at GameDays and I play when I go home to SK. HARP: Played it...

    World/Campaign Setting Themes/Flavours

Mine is mostly a project for me as I rarely run D&D games, though I love world-building. I chose other, mainly because the most apt description is apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic. It's designed for play during/just after a cataclysmic event which sunders the main continent, destroying most of its...

Because there's more motion in the ocean...

That is an interesting idea...and one I imagine gets kicked around every time steam power gets brought up in these sorts of situations. Might as well experiment with it and see if it works. The question is, how much power and for how long? What really happens when you put a water and fire...

So there's no name that identifies the Great Ring part? Just The Great Ring? Is there a name for the whole place (Ring + Prydein) or just names for component parts? Inquiring minds want to know! Or something. I like it, too. It's sort of been part of Kaereth's plans since he found out that...

Because there's more motion in the ocean...

Okay, I'm thinking along the lines of continuing with ironclad vessels as we're able, but with an eye to keeping the majority fast, flexible ships that can operate both as credible warships, scout vessels and the like, maybe kicking out one ship of the line per five frigates or something (that's...

    Character Plans

Kaereth is as focused as ever and is slowly coming to terms with his new intelligence. Whatever happened to him in the North has changed him forever. He seems to have found a place with the orcs and spends as much time as he is able with them, teaching them both what he has learned since...

Because there's more motion in the ocean...

Hmmm. We should definitely get some of those shipbuilding facilities on warship construction ASAP. Indeed, I would be willing to fund some of it out of whatever my cut is of the current treasure (since there's nothing I really need to buy). I think we should have them focus on frigate type...

    Citadel Refuge

I don't think we really lose anything (other than time, but we've burning that like no tomorrow recently) if we take the long way. Plus, it gives the circle a good opportunity to really get a look at what's going on along the route and some opportunities kill some bad guys/do some...

Pfft. I think it's obvious. Kennon wanted some naval action with this campaign and we've thwarted him at almost every opportunity. Clearly this is a clever set up to allow him to use all that naval goodness we've ignored up to now. BUT WE WILL NEVER COOPERATE!! (or will we?)

    Canada... where to move?

Honestly, (and I can't believe I'm saying this), the University of Saskatchewan might be worth a look. I don't know how they stack up in computers and design or english lit (they have a pretty good engineering and commerce schools and computer science program). But it's a college town, with...

    Canada... where to move?

That's one interpretation certainly, but I haven't paid too much attention to Canadian politics in quite a few years, so my opinion probably isn't worth a heckuva lot. :p On the other hand, the orneriness certainly explains where I got it!

    Canada... where to move?

Left-wing locally, right-wing nationally! It's a rather interesting dichotomy. But really, Western Canadians are a rather...unique lot. Yes, I can say that. I grew up there. :p
