The 8 classes in the PHB...

One thing that people need to keep reminding themselves is that the role is the combat role. It defines what style of play the character will use in combat. Each class should still have their unique out of combat schticks as well. Rangers should still be the tracking wilderness guy, and the...

Races and Classes cover on Amazon!

I will most likely have to flip through the books before I decide if they are worth the cover, but if they turn out to be an art esq book which gives insight into why certain 4e design choices were made it will most likely be enough for me.

    D&D 4E Rant on the 4E "Presentation"

The WP books are apparently meant to be a preview of the style of 4e and an avenue to use some of the leftover art. Not sure if it will be worth to price, but that is an entirely other debate going on in another thread. Also not sure if it is god or bad marketing since we are still getting...

    D&D 4E Rant on the 4E "Presentation"

Just wanted to add that the Wizard Presents books have been confirmed to not have any mechanics previews in them.

Actual age of the 4th edition player base

Usually the Nielson Ratings group is made up of a diverse sampling. What I was saying is that Enworld, although a great place, most likely does not have as diverse a membership as is needed. The internet being what it is, though, Enworld numbers are just as good as anywhere else :D

    D&D 4E Rant on the 4E "Presentation"

How is the game less than 2 months away? THE three main rule books won't be out till June. There is information floating around if you are willing to look. 8 classes in the core book: Fighter, Wizard, Rogue, Cleric, Ranger, Warlord, Warlock, and Paladin. Several races have been pretty much...

Bard thoughts...Arcane/Leader and How it might work.

The one thing that needs to be remembered when it comes to the roles in 4e, is that they are combat roles. So although I could see a Bard getting the ability to perform social buffs, that will be because the Bard's out of combat schtick is social interaction, not from their leader role. I think...

The 8 classes in the PHB...

I am pretty sure that gnomes have been confirmed as being playable, but out of the MM instead of the PHB.

Actual age of the 4th edition player base

I'm not sure if basing the average player age on a poll from enworld is the best idea since it is a small sample of a small group, but that definately does not invalidate any of your points. I agree that having two different modes of D&D would be a great idea, but since the question was what...

Actual age of the 4th edition player base

I am not disputing your numbers, but I am just curious what you are basing them on. I personally only know 3 players who are in the over thirty age range in my area. A vast majority are in their mid twenties like myself, and many are in their very late teens. The reason I think that the 30 to...

Actual age of the 4th edition player base

I would say the average age is mid twenties. Yes there are still alot of old school players, but there are also many teens and college students playing. Now that average age of people who actually own books may be a bit higher. Target audience should be early teens to mid twenties if they are...

D&D 4E What 4E class do you most want to try out?

I had to vote Rogue since I have always been the rogue guy. I am also always the multiclass guy, so I will either do warlock or wizard if I want to do a Arcane Trickster type or Fighter or Warlord if I want to do inspiring swashbuckler.

Who is more bothered by the whole per-encoutner thing?

The prospect of per encounter system is what has me wanting to play a spellcaster for the first time since 3e came out.

D&D 4E Simple Poll - How do you feel about 4E Right Now?

I can't think of anything that I have strongly disliked out of what has been shown thus far. So definately a thumbs up for me.

D&D 4E Has 4E lost its sense of wonder?

I know that I have said this in other threads, but 4e has me excited about D&D for the first time in a while. MY RPing has been filled with the superhero antics of Mutants & Masterminds as well as the horror of nWoD and Deadlands: Reloaded. No ammount of planning or discussing the prospect of a...

It won't be hard to put insta kill back into the game, will it?

With the new defense system I can't imagine insta kill stuff being fun for players since the DM will be making that roll. Then again rolling high enough as a player on your magical insta kill attack would prolly feel very good. I must say that I have always prefered the "might as well be insta...

Will You Count "Roman Numeral" Books As Core?

Since I am all about letting my players play the character concept they want, so unless something being presented in the roman numeral books is truly out of place then I am all for letting my players use it.

    D&D 4E 4E: Manufactured Excitement

I just wanted to add my two cents about enthusiasm. I am excited about 4th ed because it gives me a chance to jump back into a game I love with a group of new gamers and new ideas. I have not really played D&D in a year or two. I have however been playing a whole lot of Mutants and Masterminds...
