    Deep Water and Shoals II

Vemuz pulls Malachi aside and speaks to him quietly. "I'm here by your side, but we don't leave until morning, so we might not want to start trouble yet. There's too much time yet for the town to come down on the ship. If him and a few others can work their way aboard ship at daybreak before...

Is Chaotic/Lawful Alignment Axis really necessary?

I don't think they work as an axis. You can respect authority. You can seed disorder. You can look for the true beauty in the world. You can believe that power lies in faith. You can believe in personal accountability. You can believe that everyone is out to get you. There are many...

    Deep Water and Shoals II

Vemuz stops walking and turns around to face Malachi again. "I've more axes than gold, but I'll give what I've got if you have a plan. I don't want to sail out tomorrow with clamdiggers aboard, Malachi. I don't know who the new hands that Mr. Lang hired are going to be, and I don't really...

Vote for your favorite original D&D monster!

And the bulette, rust monster, and umber hulk are from a set of old plastic pre-D&D monster figures that, for some reason, had the word "dinosaurs" on the package.

This is really cool of you, thanks! I also think that the format of this giveaway is really clever.

    Deep Water and Shoals II

Vemuz sees Malachi watching the slaves loading the ships. "They would make good tars on our ship, eh? Probably do the work of two men each, and they'd have good morale with their freedom won too I'd wager." He drops the comment almost casually as he continues his walk right past the half-orc.

(Closed) Morningstar Give-away winner ARGENT SILVERMAGE! Try again tomorrow..........

I think it is not in the degree of civilization or culture, but rather in the heroic proportions of the people. In the golden age, blood is redder, gold glitters more brightly, and hearts beat more furiously in the chests of men who shape the destiny of ages to come. The people who follow are...

    Deep Water and Shoals II

"Evening Mr. Ames. I have them up and running with the crew easy, but they had better not cause any trouble like the rest of their folk back in town." As Vemuz locks eyes briefly with Lupe he grins to break the awkward silence. He remembers brief snippets of overheard conversation during his...

    Deep Water and Shoals II

Thoughts of his home turn over and over in Vemuz' mind. First the map from the Black Mast (the image of which was still imprinted in his mind as a hole burnt through his soul), and now the wild elves, calling him back to the place where it all began. The thought of a night spent in a stuffy...

    AC per level

Then IMO d20 Modern got it wrong too. Your defense is tied to your offense. It's how you use your weapon in many ways, including intimidating your opponent, keeping on the offensive, defining the range between you and your opponent when not using the same length of weapon, and the...

    Deep Water and Shoals II

As the chieftain finishes his speech, Vemuz turns to him and claps him firmly on both shoulders with his hands as he grins with a deep chuckle. "Your people do not have as much honor as the people Standishtown, great chieftain. No. That would be an insult to you and your kin. The beggars and...

    Cool thing my son got!

Yeah, the girl's cool and all but it sounds like the mother is way cooler. Forget about your son and the girl. You should marry the mother!

Is 1st ED AD&D dead and buried?

I think your rant info is slightly out of date: One book is good enough now - and it's two thirds the msrp price of the 3.5e monster manual. Plus, from what I've heard the stats are similar enough that you could also still use the old 1e or 2e monster books with almost no work. That means...

can someone here stat a skunk?

Yeah, I used to have a pair of skunks living under my house. They really try to avoid trouble, not start it, and so wouldn't be a problem for most adventurers except for a bad smell passing through. I would give them rabies if you want things to get stinky.
