    Making your own power cards

Nail - You're right. I like fancy. But I also realized other people don't. If you have the latest version of my set, you can switch off all the fancy fonts for those that are a bit more utilitarian using the STYLES menu in MSE. As you've stated, YMMV. -- Hirahito

    Should the Greatsword be d12?

Yep, those were my assumptions. As with any magic number assessment, you have to factor in all of the parameters. I tried to 'flatten' the sample data based on the first instance of that item in the list. In this case, the first item that uses REACH is the Glaive. With a factor of 1 for...

    Should the Greatsword be d12?

Long sword (2H) Damage: 2-9 (avg. 5.5). Magic Number: 3.25 Greatsword Damage: 1-10 (avg. 5.5). Magic Number: 3.3 Both are +3 weapons. The .05 difference is because the greatsword does slightly more damage on a critical. So I think my magic number calcs are spot on. And yeah, I think...

    Should the Greatsword be d12?

Keterys - You're correct. The magic number for a hypothetical +2 / 1d10 weapon is 3.3. The magic number for a hypothetical +2 / 1d4 high crit, versatile weapon being used 2 handed is 2.35. Obviously a huge difference. -- Hirahito

    Should the Greatsword be d12?

Mercutio's correct. A magic number is a reference number that allows you to see how one item is rated compared to another. On this scale, the lowest weapon is the Shuriken, the highest is the Greataxe. I noticed a couple of things. One - All of the Superior weapons really aren't; especially...

    Should the Greatsword be d12?

I re-ran your numbers and even put them into an Excel sheet (see attached). I factored my damage numbers based on a 50% hit rate and then increased damage based on the Prof bonus in 0.05 increments. I also factored in some numbers for 'Utility factor' such as 'off hand', 'Load free' vs 'Load...

    Making your own power cards

I'm doing something similar. I'm changing my set creator C# program to look for HIT:, ATTACK: and similar 'markers' in the text. It will then auto-fill the box label and box content tags in each of the cards. Most people are doing their card sets by hand, but that's just too much damned work...

    Making your own power cards

I've got the standard Red/Green/Black/Blue/Silver/Gold backgrounds already. This was a leathery one I put together specifically for critters. Do critters need more than one? -- Hirahito

D&D 4E New Take on the 4E Druid...

Thanks! Yeah, this class has 3 main 'builds'. A defensive wildshaper, an offensive wildshaper, and a humanoid leader type. The wildshaping is a lot like WOW. In fact, the class has a lot of WOW characteristics. So, if you like druids in WOW, you should like this class. -- Hirahito

    Making your own power cards

I saw what Plauge and you did!! I doubt I can get something as good, but I'm going to throw some ideas out there and see if anyone likes them. I'm trying a lot of things for this version as well. Did you and Plauge happen to see the messages about semi-standardizing on the same type of MSE...

    Making your own power cards

Hmmmm... I thought that was for images only. I'll try that with my next build and see if I can get text to wrap around things. Thanks for that tip, Plauge!! -- Hirahito

D&D 4E New Take on the 4E Druid...

While humorous, there's no way in hell I'm changing a power to something with Nicholas Cage in it. ;-) And I don't think the powers should shape-change the other party members, I think it should animal-like properties to them. I'm working on my Power Card set at the moment, but I have a good...

D&D 4E New Take on the 4E Druid...

Excellent points. If you look at the Wiki for Druid, I originally suggested a Druid should be a Leader role. Unfortunately, that would require a complete re-look of the class. I'll take a look at it. It might be possible with a minimal amount of effort.

    Making your own power cards

Yep - I'm learning as I go along. Sorry for that hassle. I have gone through my set file and I'm making an effort to 'standardize' on the following fields: name: -- Name of the card name2: -- Optional. Used by Hirahito as complete source (e.g. Fighter...

D&D 4E New Take on the 4E Druid...

I've gone in and modified malcolm_n's Druid with a new version. Emphasis was made on making the 3 different types of druid playable as well as some tweaks on adding a little more healing ability. Please give feedback (your choice of good or bad). -- Hirahito Here's a link: Hirahitos_Druid.pdf
