Pathfinder 1E Using the Pathfinder System for an Alternate Setting - Anyone doing it?

Yep, using PF plus the Complete Books, Spell Compendium and Eberron Books in an Eberron Dhakaani campaign. It works pretty well, but you have to step around a few issues. My next campaign will probably do away with everything but Pathfinder core and maybe the Tome of Secrets once I look it over.

    Playing Evil

While I don't usually run pure evil campaigns, most of my campaigns lean evil and I have had very few problems with it. Yes, it can be sometimes difficult to find a good hook when "help the widow" won't do it, but as long as they are willing to be mercenaries, then the hook is simple. Otherwise...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder OnLine SRD (PRD)

The rollout of the hardback, the pdf, and the srd all within 12 hours of each other was beautifully done. Great organization, Paizo. Way to confirm your crit! :D

Pathfinder 1E Paizo Partners with Reaper to Produce Pathfinder Miniatures

I may have to figure out how to force my untalented hands to paint figs. I haven't tried since I was 12 and that was a total failure! But on the upside, my patience, eyesight, and dexterity have all gotten worse since then, so I'm sure it'll go fine. :)

Eberron: My issue with the 4e setting

Thanks for the thoughts, KB. While I'm still playing 3.5/Pathfinder, I like some of the ideas that 4e has brought to the table with the Dragonmarked benefits. I may have to see about giving a small bonus to people in the proper class, such as +2 to healing spells for Mark of Healing characters.

Have you converted your favorite novels into a campaign setting?

When I was young I always had planned to make a world based off of the Chronicals of Thomas Covenant the UnBeliever by Stephen Donaldson, but I never got past the very first stages. Frankly, I've never been much of a world builder. I started many projects, never getting more than 10% done...

    Starting a Paragon Eberron Campaign

I can't help with mechanics since I'm still stuck on 3.5/PF, but as far as story ideas and double-crosses... Double-crosses can be frequent, but don't always make the party the victim. Have them watch their contacts get double-crossed, poisoned, and betrayed. Or, have the party themselves be...

Eberron: My issue with the 4e setting

Well, we still play 3.5/Pathfinder, so the 4e changes do not apply in my game. But yes, I do tend to stick to the rules as written, which I don't consider to be a bad thing. In most of my games, we'll use the core rules, the Eberron books, the Complete series, the Spell Compendium, PHB2, and the...

Eberron: My issue with the 4e setting

I'm with Crothian on this one; I strongly dislike the change. It's the whole "we can't say no to the players" mentality. I give my players plenty of choice (although as soon as I say that one of them will chime in to disagree), but there are some things that should just be not allowed. The only...

Great breakdown, Ochre. I think about things in the same way, but never so clearly.

    Identifying "old school" adventure modules

I did that very thing, but because I am far more familiar with ToH than WPM. I think I may have played through WPM at one point, but I really don't remember it and so I didn't vote for it.

    Identifying "old school" adventure modules

I didn't go through many of those old modules, but I can tell you that I didn't vote for Ravenloft. It had a totally different vibe from what I considered traditional D&D in 1984 or whenever it came out. From the isometric map to the gypsy town, it was far and away unusual. Slave Pits of the...

    Creative Terrain

Some settings I've used. Fighting on two ships at sea, one deck higher than the other and spaced 5' apart. The combatants have to move from ship to ship as the battle rages. The old lava filled cave. As have of the group gets across the lava pool/river, they are attacked. The rest of the...

Pathfinder 1E [Pathfinder] Planning on switching to Pathfinder?

We are currently using the Beta rules in two campaigns and those are going to convert to final as soon as we can. Our other campaigns are probably not going to switch from 3.5, but I expect that most of the new ones will use PF.

Review of the Eberron Campaign Guide...

I wish the review had gone into more detail on the changes from 3e to 4e, that's what I am most interested in. The changes to the planes, to dragonmark availability, even the Dhakaan Empire's history {In the Player's Guide the Xoriat invasion was never mentioned, just internal pressure and civil...

Just a quick note to recommend this one. It is a great adventure and hits the notes you are looking for.

Why the beer hate? (Forked Thread: What are the no-goes...)

This is a good conversation and the rare 5 page thread that I've read word for word. I just want to say that I'm quite impressed at how this is being discussed intelligently and calmly. Drinking can touch on some pretty personal issues, so it is refreshing to see it being dealt with so well...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Sneak Peeks (Old thread)

I like the changes. In flavor and useful. I do agree with Atlatl that I hate how flurry is a full round action. I've seen two house rules that deal with that. 1) Give the Monk the skirmish ability (ie, move 10' and get +1d6 damage), or 2) change flurry to a standard action. I'm doing #2 in my...
