death level either 1st/2nd or right around 15+... at the low levels Mr Orc and his great axe will annihilate all... however around the higher levels you get a lot of the save or die spells. saves increase too little for DC increases through spellfocus/power/etc unless you powergame it to hell...

i recommend: 1 barb 1 barb/1 cleric 2 barb/1 cleric 2 barb/x cleric this way you get uncanny dodge (prevents those damn blinking rogues from destroying you), rage, and decent casting. consider taking rage feats like Extra Rage, Retroactive Rage, DESTRUCTIVE Rage :D i like that last one! good...

one thing on the Bestow Curse versus Hold Person... a lot of fighters will have things that prevent Hold Person (ie. Ring of Freedom of Movement). i cant think of anything that counters Bestow Curse other than a Ring of Counterspelling (and who would put a Bestow Curse in that!)

at heart im a roleplayer and i usually make up indepth backgrounds/personalities for all my pcs... and i usually take con as a dump stat (along with wisdom - bah! i dont need wisdom in real life OR in game!) however, evil grin, in my spare time i often try to make up messed up ridiculous power...

Retrievers, Imps, Kytons, Cornugons, Gelugons, Pit Fiends only take real damage from blessed weapons & a few other things. repeat after me: Bless Weapon is your friend.

i dont like the 3e system mentality of "We must give out xp by the Core Rules or we shall die! Bwahaha! Fear us!" if you do that, it goes FAR too fast in my opinion. ...getting back to the topic... i like the low-mid levels best. at high levels, things often get overly ridiculous & combats...

actually... you get a save for Inflict spells! look it up! most people miss it!

i absolutely adore Combust out of the FR book... any spell that lights things on fire is rules! i also love the soul suckers like Enervation, Energy Drain and VAMPIRIC TOUCH!!! :D almost made vampiric touch a signature spell for one of my pcs.
