Ways to counter Harm

that's why i prefer low level campaigns. Easier not to kill half of the group with one good surprise round.

In my experience, Darklone, it is MUCH easier to inadvertently kill low-level PCs than high-level PCs. Mind you, I allow a will save for Harm, but even with spell combos like this it is fairly rare for me to kill my high level (15th-19th) PCs. In comparison, I recently killed a flatfooted 5th lvl rogue with a handful of crossbow-wielding goblins and one 3rd level rogue. I think that death caught everyone by surprise.

In any event, I think Harm is too powerful for its level, and is one of my few house rules. *shrug* Works for me.

A DM did a similar thing to me once, except we were in mountains instead of a forest. The terrain penalties suddenly vanished for no reason, and this just happened to occur when it was convenient for some homebrew monster to charge out and do 300 damage to my wizard.

I pointed at something on my character sheet and yelled "HA! I'm still alive!" When the DM leaned over to read the sheet, I dumped my soda down the back of his shirt.

[cartman] Screw you guys, I'm goin' home! [/cartman] ;)
