    D&D 5E (2024) I have the DMG. AMA!

I can't recall specifically for the 5e DMG, but it's been frequent advice to limit access to defensive items for the players, because they all are sporting +3 plate and +3 shield, it becomes hard to balance. Feeling of invulnerability can reduce tension etc. Anyway, it now seems to be that...

    D&D General Top 5 Best Non-WotC adventures?

It's not quite D&D (although it could easily be played with D&D), and it's sort of a hybrid between campaign setting and adventure, but I would be remiss not to mention UVG (UltraViolet Grasslands), an "point crawl" adventure that has wildly creative locations and NPCs. Even if you never run...

    D&D General Top 5 Best Non-WotC adventures?

Zeitgeist is also really good, but I haven't read it, only played as a player, so don't know what % was our GM and the original adventure.

    D&D General Top 5 Best Non-WotC adventures?

I came here to name the same adventure. How is your campaign going? :) I'm actually simultaneously DMing a campaign and playing it in another group. It's not an ideal situation, but we made it work. It truly is a remarkable campaign, and it supports different playing styles fairly well too.

Ah, but what's harder - remodeling an entire faction, or removing a zero from a number? ;)

    D&D 5E (2024) Sword Coast population data from 2024 D&D Pocket Expert

I just realized something. A big change that happened in 3e FR (from 2e FR) was the rise of the Red Wizards of Thay as magical merchants. This matched the 3e rules, which were FAR friendlier to magical item creations , esp compared to 2e. It made a lot of sense that there would be a trade of...

    D&D 5E (2024) Sword Coast population data from 2024 D&D Pocket Expert

I agree with you on both points. Unless the sea is impassable, which is not the case, sea travel, even with relatively limited ships (say a 200 ton cog) is far more profitable and capable than overland travel. This is even more reasons to use the 3e version of Forgotten Realms. What's so...

But why do they dominate trade? As many others have pointed out, its location is not that advantageous.

    D&D 5E (2024) Sword Coast population data from 2024 D&D Pocket Expert

I made the golden field farmers as productive as modern farmers (that's VERY magical!), and calculated a reasonable amount of people that could be fed would be 250 000. Your answer is that it's very very magical? Why not just have food rain down from the sky? People from waterdeep have...

    D&D 5E (2024) Sword Coast population data from 2024 D&D Pocket Expert

See, Rome had about a million, and their secret was grain shipped from Egypt. That was possible because Rome dominated Egypt, it was a Roman province. Waterdeep doesn't have that hold on other parts of the area. Given the somewhat northerly climate, I don't anticipate that the area is...

D&D 5E (2024) Damage Threshold, the new "need a magic weapon"?

When I said "creature or object", that was a direct quote from the rules. I did not invent this.

D&D 5E (2024) Damage Threshold, the new "need a magic weapon"?

That is a very useful observation Morrus, thank you. Based on this, I speculate that this will be a "niche" power for a small section of monsters (it really fits for constructs) and not a general mechanie.

D&D 5E (2024) Aberrant Mind Sorcerer With a High Intelligence?

Some clerics/druids in 5.5 can use wisdom to do arcana or other scholarly test, that would be a very simple way of doing it.

D&D General Why 5E Adventurs Suck!!!!!

Perhaps I should explain why I like Dungeons of Drakkenheim so much. Dungeons of Drakkenheim is set on a ruined city, contaminated by raw magic crystals (delerium) and filled with magic-mutated monsters. The story/plot is pretty cool, but a lot of D&D adventures have cool plots/story. What...

D&D 5E (2024) Char Creation Homebrew Proposals for my DM. Yes/No?

I agree with with a lot of what has been said: - Let the new DM play -Play the game "as is" for the first time - That being said, custom backgrounds is probably fine. What we're going to do it is a "change one thing". For example, a sailor could have alert instead of tavern brawler. It adds...
