The only thing I've seen that is potentially overpowered is giving out a lot of magic items. Then again, I'm also someone who is theorycrafting a wizard that can play the role of a tank nearly as well as the fighter can.

Having actually used that trap and gotten that result, I can attest to this. And, I think you hit on the main issue; the way 4E presented roles, it came across to some people as the game telling them what to do with their characters.

Don't forget the wild mage. Even if we tried stealth, there's no guarantees the invisibility spell won't result in your character glowing like a neon sign.
