    Imprinting on media

Absolutely. I would say it creates an unfair hurdle that any remake/reboot needs to get past, as well. The follow-ups tend to need to be significantly better than the original in order to be accepted at the same level as the original. I can't really speak on the Keanu sequel to "The Day the...

Spoilers Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

It's more a Korean War/Vietnam analogy. Especially the latter. It was in those wars that medivac became a thing, so more soldiers were surviving truly horrific wounds. I would say that Vic gets even better, through the series. I kind of wish they had somehow managed to sneak in a "Time...

Guess that I'm only partially domesticated, then, as I'll accept both prayleen and prahleen.

    Are Ghosts Real? (a poll)

And what if they're a manifestation of "The Observer Phenomenon" and the mere act of looking for them alters the results?

    Are Ghosts Real? (a poll)

Paranormal researchers frequently report that pets will stare off in a direction that indicates some sort of phenomenon. They have keener senses than we do, by far, so maybe it's ghosts? Maybe it's mice? Yeah, probably mice.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Maybe a dozen transactions, so far, and no scams. I am dealing with some basic stuff though. I will say that a a mini milling 'bench' that I bought was pretty crappy, but then again I kind of expected that for the price. It showed me what to avoid. EDIT - Delivery can be a bit strange though...

Some. Typically with things like mechanical parts to build tools (drill checks, pulleys), and raw materials for hobbies (beading crystals, plastics).

    Are Ghosts Real? (a poll)

It goes even further with people who evidently never grew mentally/emotionally beyond 5th grade and actively bully "smart people."

    SkyNet really is ... here?

They're just word engines. If you feed them unethical concepts, they will return unethical results. I'm still not a fan.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I can't really afford it, at the moment, but I can currently retire with an unreduced pension due to age+years of employment. Still, it's a joking threat I use against my manager when he's being annoying ;)

That sucks :( I'm back to work tomorrow as well. Really makes me think about that whole retirement thing again.

    Are Ghosts Real? (a poll)

There are a few species on Earth that are effectively immortal, barring predation or incident, but I would tend to think that works against them developing sentience via evolution. At least it would seriously slow the process.

    Are Ghosts Real? (a poll)

Yup. They're two very different questions: "Does alien life exist?" and, "Have we been visited by aliens?" If we assume that intelligent life is a fairly rare thing then we live in a detection bubble that is roughly 249 light years across (first radio signal sent in Dec. 1901). The odds of...
