    Pathfinder 1E West Berlin/Winslow, NJ - Pathfinder

Looking for one or more players who would be interested in a campaign using the Pathfinder rules. We normally play every Monday or Tuesday night at my home in Winslow, New Jersey. At one time there were 7 of us, but real-world intrusions caused two of the players to drop out. 4e came out and...

    Make a Better Living Campaign

I think that the way that TORG did things with their Infiniverse newsletters could definitely work for living campaigns with the current use of technology. In addition to reporting on what the PCs did in regards to certain key metacampaign points (majority of PCs did or didn't eliminate the...

    Rethinking Psionics

If I had the time, I'd consider taking the psionics rules from Spycraft's Shadowforce Archer (SFA) campaign setting and modifying them for Pathfinder. Essentially, you obtain psionic abilities via feats, but then your use of them is dependent upon skill level. Actually, you could even go...

Looking for a great sci-fi RPG

Yup - and for those that like a little more crunch, the Zebulon's Guide supplement makes the game a full-on skill-based system with task resolution being a quick look-up using a table similar to the one used by Marvel Superheroes. I'll second the recommendation to go look at starfrontiersman -...

The Escapist on D&D Past, Present, and Future

I'm intrigued by the future article - Mearls definitely is on the same page as me when it comes to handing back the reigns to the DM so it'll be interesting to see whether or not there are specific rules differences between PCs and NPCs in 5e or if the entire flavor of the game will revert back...

The Escapist on D&D Past, Present, and Future

Actually it is more akin to repetitive assembly line work. Not much skill, not much thinking, just wash-rinse-repeat.

The Escapist on D&D Past, Present, and Future

Maybe you should be telling the author of the articles that since he badmouths Andy in both the Past and Present articles. Then again, perhaps, given a lot of the hate for him that I've seen before, the author could just be in that camp. You are completely missing the point. What the...

The Escapist on D&D Past, Present, and Future

This. 100% this. Us old farts have the families and work. Our "short attention spans" are externally-induced. I've run my campaign(s) for the last 8 years or so using published adventures in published campaign settings using published monsters. I spend the scant few hours a week I have...

    Dear Mike & Monte

I don't even know what that means but I don't like it at all. This is part of the reason why 5e should completely ditch any and all terminology associated exclusively with 4e. 5e combat ought to allow that different monsters (and PCs) can do different things based upon how skilled they are vs...

The Escapist on D&D Past, Present, and Future

The thing I find most interesting about those two articles is that (whether you agree with it being intentional or not) the author makes it pretty clear that Andy Collins is the reason why 4e is what it is and why it is so reviled by those folks who have stuck with 3.x or Pathfinder.

    Dear Mike & Monte

I would say that, first, whatever was done for 4e PR-wise - do the exact opposite. Second - use the OGL or some other license that will ensure good will from business partners (i.e. any 3rd party publishers) and the customer. Finally - game-wise, I'd do the following: 1. Ditch the idea of...

    WotC's Annual Xmas Layoffs

Not really - its just the short-sighted "we're focused on next quarter's profits" mentality amongst the MBA set entrenched in middle and upper management at many US companies. Letting people go to eliminate redundancies as part of a long-range plan is one thing, but artificially making your...

    WotC's Annual Xmas Layoffs

It actually, doesn't make any economic sense, in the long run. When you let experienced people go and end up hiring them back as freelancers, you can save a few bucks. Eventually, though, they'll likely re-hire some of them as full-time employees, at which point any savings realized from...

    AD&D Campaign/Adventure Path Recommendations

Thanks everyone! Any thoughts on the C-series modules? Especially C4 and C5? Likewise, what about the BECMI D&D modules? I've considered weaving X4, X5, X10 with I3-5.

Pathfinder 1E South Jersey Pathfinder Campaign

Looking for one or two players for a currently-ongoing Pathfinder game set in the World of Aereth campaign setting. We originally had 5 players but then life got in the way and we were down to 3 players. One of those has also had to leave due to military deployment. We've been making due by...

    AD&D Campaign/Adventure Path Recommendations

Other than the T1-4, A1-4, GDQ1-7 supermodules as an adventure path, can anyone provide suggestions on stringing together AD&D 1e modules in a logical adventure path? I'm looking to put together a path with multiple branching trees. Thanks in advance.

    Too much MATH!

This. I've encountered similar situations when playing Twilight:2013 - the solution is to have a weapons card with all applicable stuff on it for each weapon you carry. This even works well in 3.x/PF where you could have variables for different feats, etc.

Do you want/are you ready for a D&D 5th edition?

Assuming they do one of the following things, then I'm all for 5e: 1. Go back to an old-school vibe with a C&C-level of complexity. 2. Completely abandon the entire D&D level-based ethos and go with a level-less completely skill-based system that allows for a variable level of complexity...

    Weather in your Games?

I want the appearance of realism, but I'm lazy, so I use Weathermaster. Pretty sure it is no longer supported or available for purchase.
