D&D 5E (2014) What do players spend their treasure on?

I'm lucky because our campaign involves building up a kingdom, so I have been about to hand out rather large adventuring loots that immediately translated into build points, the currency of kingdom building. It feels like an awesome payout, but it is not game breaking. Also, they can sell magic...

    D&D 5E (2014) Beastmaster's animal companion: can it survive for 2 rounds?

Looks like my interpretation jives with Mearls'. The DM has the ACo dodging vs scary foes and possibly attacking weaker ones (that seems like how a wolf would fight). Maybe he mixes it up and helps the ranger sometimes.

    D&D 5E (2014) Beastmaster's animal companion: can it survive for 2 rounds?

I will rule that the ACo will send the turn dodging if it gets no commands. That cuts down on potential cheese and increases the ACo survivability.

    D&D 5E (2014) Elemental Affinity

Forgot about rounding. Still, two 10 point bolts (add Cha) do 10 points of damage versus resistance, while two 7 point bolts which add 3 for Cha only do 8 points versus resistance. Anyways, it seems like applying the Cha damage to each attack roll, ala 4E, is the correct interpretation. Or at...

    D&D 5E (2014) Elemental Affinity

Wouldn't resistance have the same effect regardless? I am going with the ruling more than one attack roll, multiple Cha applications until I hear something that defines it otherwise.

D&D 5E (2014) For cantrips is "level" level or class level?

I think Jester is spot on. I appreciate the analysis. Also, it is very hard to balance multiclassing, so I'd rather the err on the side of giving the Melee Paladin a great ranged attack with only a two level dip in warlock if it means that a two level dip in paladin allows for an awesome Melee...

D&D 5E (2014) For cantrips is "level" level or class level?

Sneak attack only works with weapons.

    D&D 5E (2014) Elemental Affinity

Okay. The wording is funky for Elemental Affinity, which is why I am not sure if it is meant to function the same as Empowered Evocation and Agonizing Blast.

    D&D 5E (2014) Elemental Affinity

Is Elemental Affinity treated the same as Empowered Evocation? Would a single target Scorching Ray do 4d6 + Cha or (2d6 + Cha)*3?

D&D 5E (2014) For cantrips is "level" level or class level?

Any "official" ruling on this yet?

    D&D 5E (2014) So...warlocks?

Are invocations keyed off of character level or warlock level?

    D&D 5E (2014) So...warlocks?

Are we sure that the definitive ruling is that invocations prerequisites are based on character level and not warlock class level? That makes them the multiclassing champs in my book. I'm thinking Paladin 2 / Warlock 3. DnD version of Spawn.

    D&D 5E (2014) Shield Mastery Feat

Oops, I miss read it. The five feet is the range. It does Grant a generic shove. For the record, I see this the same as two weapon fighting, and I would allow bonus attacks first or second.

    D&D 5E (2014) Shield Mastery Feat

I'm not sure that it grants any shove. It says shove five feet, not simply shove, which would give you the option of shoving prone or five feet.

    D&D 5E (2014) Flanking

    I like it too. Thanks!

    D&D 5E (2014) Flanking

I disagree. Barbs wouldn't have to work on fancy footwork (positioning), they could just pick nearest target and swing. Other melee types would have to flank, and thus maybe put themselves in a position where they are easily flanked. Combat adv in 3rd and 4th was predicated on flanking first...

    D&D 5E (2014) Flanking

Is there flanking in 5th edition? During DnD Next, I thought the intent was to make core without it, but to add a grid based tactical module that would presumably have flanking. I've been DMing a next game where I have been giving adv for flanking.

    D&D 5E (2014) Ranger

In our DnD Next group the ranger was consistently our top damage dealer. Also, the ability to cast cure wounds is huge.
