Pathfinder 2E Pirates & Gray Maidens: Archetypes in Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

If you don't find infinite fall distance with a hero landing at the end at 120 mph (terminal velocity) with enough force to smash stonework to smithereens but leaving the character entirely unharmed (a classic 'hero landing' as the character isn't prone at the end...), despite the fact no magic...

    Skill Feats In Pathfinder 2

It does not say that - and a player using it in an antimagic field would be pretty pissed off if you let them die because of an unsupported assumption like that. If it was actually magic/psi/ki as per the RAW, with the usual mystic resource-style limited availability I would not have a problem...

Pathfinder 2E Pirates & Gray Maidens: Archetypes in Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

Look at the other side of the argument before challenging maybe? In 5th Edition for instance, a 20th level Fighter can use their signature ability and kill an average HP Wizard in one round, guaranteed, as long as they are within a single move of them. The same cannot be said of the Wizard...

"Run away! Run away!" ... what if they don't?

If they don't take reasonable hints, and the situation is clearly very bad, and they know there is no cavalry to save them, then allow the encounter to proceed to character deaths until they run. CR and Threat Level and all these concepts were introduced by D&D, and many people who have only...

Pathfinder 2E Pirates & Gray Maidens: Archetypes in Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

There are any number of fantasy systems which keep the mundane, mundane, and balance magic well with it. The idea that this cannot be the case, and that the only way to 'have nice things' for non-magical classes in a D&D style-game is to have Manga/Superhero abilities is the central self-deceit...

Pathfinder 2E Pirates & Gray Maidens: Archetypes in Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

I do think that these packaged feats with so many 'everything is a crit and you can always do x or y regardless of how ridiculously impossible it is' feats are going to make PF2 ultra-gonzo. That's fine I suppose, but it will I think magnify the 'finish the campaign at 12th' mode of play and...

Pathfinder 2E Pirates & Gray Maidens: Archetypes in Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

I think that may be ok - considering that however many Feats 2nd Edition has, only a handful will be available to any one character. At least I hope it doesn't end up reading like a long shopping list by 20th level... but then I will be so irritated by some of the Legendary Feats in play by...

    Everybody Cheats?

I used to cheat as a kid, but saw how negative an impact it had on games after I matured. I know people who cheat really badly though even though they are in their 40's... As a GM (which I most often am) four decades of trial and error have taught me to almost never fudge, and to make character...

    Suspense in RPGs

The Babe example is too simplistic. Not knowing the costs isn't the only way in which suspense can be built up, and one only has to look at Game of Thrones to see that sometimes certainties can turn out to be fleeting and ultimately end in utter failure and death, and the story is all the...

    Skill Feats In Pathfinder 2

If running a retro game, you may decide that's how it works of course, but you would not be using the rules as written. Ki was not a game codified concept introduced until the Oriental Adventures supplement, well after the creation of the Monk character class and these fall distances and...

    In Search Of Mike Carr

That's cool. My first ever character in 1978 was a Cleric, but this guy beat me by some margin! :)

    Skill Feats In Pathfinder 2

Are you really going to use such an argument? OK - fine. I suspect you have missed the obvious - so let me point it out for you. What is the relevance of the wall at all? It is relevant, or it wouldn't be mentioned now would it... perhaps you really think that the monk can peacefully look at...

Where have your favorite campaign ideas come from?

I once ran a game that was a mixture of Mad Max, Waterworld, Dune and Clash of the Titans. :) The Diluvi were the Waterworld catamaran-riding race The Badlanders were the Freman (from Dune) - living in Badlands with giant scorpion hives The Inheritors were the survivor human race of the...

What have been the most fun/impactful magic items you've found/made for your players?

The Scalmagdrion A spellbook that was actually a summoning codex for a Dragon which could teach the user spells - like a mentor... as long as you earned it's trust and respect. I came up with the idea in a 1st Edition D&D game in the very early 80's in a game I ran with school friends. I...

    Mythological Figures: Baba Yaga (5E)

Some of your stat blocks for legendary persona have been a little off in my opinion. But this one really is spot on. My wife is Russian, and loves mythology and I have spoken to her many times on the really Russian Baba Yaga, and this captures it well. One thing though - I would say she is...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e completely nerfed charm - for YOU, anyway

Then intuitively, I'd say it's fine, but should be renamed Suggestion, and the current Suggestion renamed Charm. That's similar to the way GURPS does it - suggestion being short term, and charm being longer term.

    Skill Feats In Pathfinder 2

There are no giant springy leaves required here. At least in first edition the Monk at high level needed to be near enough to a surface to acrobatically use it to slow their descent. That was incredible, but at least gave a reasonable nod to the physics of friction...

    Xanathar's Guide to Everything

4 out of 5 rating for Xanathar's Guide to Everything Subclasses could have been better balanced, but a good book nevertheless.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e completely nerfed charm - for YOU, anyway

I don't have my rulebook in front of me - is it castable at higher level? If it is, does it scale very badly? I know it's weaksauce, but what is the solution compared to the other duration based spell effect changes?

    Skill Feats In Pathfinder 2

Wow, there really is no point debating with you is there? None of what you just said makes sense in any context relevant to what I said. So I'll leave this here. I have no desire to continue a conversation which can go nowhere logical, and certainly no patience with someone who just wants to...
