I mean there's already an aberrant mind Sorcerer so I feel like that's handled.
I think the bigger issue with that is that it doesn't work thematically with Dark Sun, where Arcane magic defiles. Psonics doesn't. That's the only reason, IMO, an official Psion 'needs' to exist, since I was...
I'd amend that... it's not that it's too radical. Arcane and Divine casting has worked differently in the past--after all, divine originally only went to 7th level. But designing the different spell sources to work differently is a full edition level of change. It's something you'd need to plan...
Wizards being a dying class just doesn't match with my experience. As I said my previous Spelljammer campaign as a DM had two of them, my Dark Sun campaign had one (a Preserver). The 1-to-10 Waterdeep campaign I was in also had a Wizard. And the campaign I did session 0 for today, has a Diviner...
Ideally, Psionic magic couldn't be Counterspelled and would get access to spells that aren't on the Arcane and Divine lists. Psionics' association with the Far Realm should make it the 'weird' power source, the one that does freaky spooky stuff.
I do like the notion of having basic disciplines...
He left at 10th level. The party leveled up twice more without him.
They briefly got a second wizard but then that guy got Disintegrated due to a lucky high roll on the damage.
In my experience, Wizards are quite powerful. Most of that comes from their versatility. They usually aren't the one doing the most damage, but their spell list gives them among the broadest effectiveness.
The Wizard in my recently-ended Spelljammer game had to leave a while before we brought...
Honestly I think the class changes are mostly fine but some of the magic item changes are bonkers. Especially Vicious weapons and Enspelled items. I can definitely see DM getting thrown off by allowing items that were once innocuous only to find them carving through enemies like a lightsaber...
I'm playing in two games, one mostly 2014 Eberron game but with 2024 healing spells and (sadly) Counterspell... and one hybrid 2014/2024 Wrath of the Righteous game. Both games use mostly the 2025 MM versions of monsters.
And in about 12.5 hours I'm doing the session 0 of a hybrid 5E game I'm...
My best guess based on what we've seen thus far:
Soldiers - Travis, Luis, Robbie, Laura
Schemers - Matt, Taliesin, Ashley, Whitney, and maybe Sam?
Seekers: Liam, Marisha, Aabria, and Alex (Maybe Sam if they split up Wick and Tyranny.)
Seriously. While I do hope the official psion is fun to play, the biggest excitement about it for me is that it was the first indication they'd consider publishing Dark Sun.
Also I'm really disappointed that nobody in this campaign is a Barbarian. I was hoping Thimble would be so Laura finally had an opportunity to say "I would like to rage."
