Your top 5 sci-fi movies (and why)

Has Tasha Yar in it... Makes it a must see movie just for that (though the movie itself doesn't exactly scream...top 5...).

Your top 5 movie trilogies of all time, and why?

I'm not sure I follow your logic on this one...

Renegade to Reprint Lords of Waterdeep

I didn't really care for Lords of Waterdeep. It's a worker placement game and I thought it was not as good as other worker placement games such as Agricola or Caylus. When given the choice, I'd choose the latter two any day over LoWD. However, I know many really enjoyed LoWD.

AD&D 2E Can anyone give me a rundown on Red Steel and other obscure D&D settings not mentioned in this video?

Rover Boys used to be everywhere. Now... It's pretty obscure. Obscure can just mean that you are getting older, and things that were everywhere when you were younger...are now "obscure" for the modern day individual.

    Golden Ages of Gaming

I always felt it was more like Comics... You have your Golden Age, then your Silver Age, then your Bronze Age...etc. In that light, I'd say the Golden Age of RPGs was 1976 -1999 with the specific Golden Portion being more between 1981 - 1984...perhaps expandable of 1980 - 1986. The most...

D&D General How Much D&D Stuff Is There Anyway? Part 4: Novels

Well, if you include Planescape and Spelljammer as official...then it really is one BIG SAGA. They all happen in the same...universe/multiverse. Well, as big a Saga as Marvel Comics, or DC comics, or Xanth (series of books), or any other interconnected world with different stories and...

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

Are we talking about WFRP 4e (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4e)? I'm not so certain that version has flatter math. (same would go for the new 40K versions). The older versions of Warhammer only let you go up to 100 in general (though that meant, 100% which is pretty darn good) as a maximum...

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

They do have a lot invested in Beyond. Enough that when sales start falling a good money maker is to force people to change (sort of like Windows does, or other things in that arena. The CEO of Hasbro is well familiar with that type of forced change and it's benefits). Whether that will...

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

I wouldn't be so sure on that one. I'd say they are probably developing 6e even as we speak, and there are some pretty major changes with it akin to the bigger changes that have followed all of WotC's different D&D editions.

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

Until they do away with it and then for some reason, you'll have everyone saying that they always hated it. Funny thing with things like this...people always say they love it...until they don't and never did. That aside though, this forum is a very anecdotal place. If we went by the forum...

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

I'm not saying it wasn't loved...nor that it was. I'm saying we don't have enough information to know what the choices were except... That there WERE complaints. They actually changed the numbers during the playtest. However, the changes were actually not that major and really didn't change...

Dragonlance [Dragonlance Homebrew] Alternate Timeline: Magocracy of Ansalon

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

Was it though? According to whom? Who gave out that information? What is it's source? If I made an Apple Pie and said everyone loved it...that's what everyone said. Does that mean everyone loved it? On BA... There were some complaints about it...but they were minimized. They actually had...

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

The problem is bounded accuracy. What do I mean by that? I mean they wanted to have bounded accuracy. They demanded it. In some form or another, the designers were bound and determined that this was what they were going to have. It didn't matter what anyone else said, or what real feedback...

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

Last time they tried to kill a few Sacred Cows (4e) it created such a great outcry which probably makes them want to shy away from trying anything similar to it, or even remotely resembling that attempt ever again.

What do you love about The Wheel of Time?

If I were to suggest reading the books to someone today I would suggest reading books 1 - 7 (maybe include book 8 if you like getting a tad bored) and then skipping to book 11 and reading the rest of the series. Not enough happens in between that which you can't get caught up in through book...

Finally saw Tenet (and Nolan films ranked)

Original thread started in 2021. That's the year most of the movies were ranked by those who participated in this thread. Oppenheimer was released July 21, 2023, almost 2 years (but not quite) after this thread was started. It was ressurected October 12, 2025...almost 2 years after that and...

Judge decides case based on AI-hallucinated case law

Yes. I do not like the practice, but it is very widespread. Professors commonly have their students use a book that the Professor wrote and published. Basically, bumping up the Professors income. This is why some professors love to teach large undergraduate classes vs. graduate, because when...
