I don't know... My 9th level gestalt Scout/Warlock with a Greater Chasuble was doing 12d6 per shot after moving :). Yeah he was only getting 1 blast per round, but thats a hefty punch.

You may want to consider waiving the sanity loss if a PC dies the same way several times, i.e. they get so "used to" dying that way that particular death no longer affects their sanity. "Gee, thats the 5th time they've burned me to death. Maybe I can get them to stab me next time for a little...

Same here. I'm still pissed about 3.5 coming out so quickly on the heels of 3.0, and I STILL haven't bought the 3.5 PHB or DMG.

An easy fix for that is to introduce XP debt instead of XP loss. The XP debt gets worked off as you gain XP, 1/2 going to pay off debt the other half going to your XP total as normal. Any odd points go to pay off debt.
