When I DM, I don't want the players to "tell my story". They have agency over their characters. But the player characters should be making choices that make sense in the game world that the characters are inhabiting. And choices that are consistent with who they have said their characters are.

I think the 'tyranny of fun' phrase means the DM is having to sacrifice his/her own enjoyment or plans for the game in order to satisfy the players. So the players might be having fun but the DM isn't. It can definitely happen if you have a DM that wants to keep things logical and consistent...

I hope they use ALL the original art for both the covers and the interior illustrations. In the past, many of the reissues of these FF and Sorcery books have used 'modernized' art which really detracts from the experience.

If/When I start DMing 5e2024 I will allow players with Herbalism Kit proficiency to cure or alleviate the symptoms of some diseases. They might know or be able to guess how to make concoctions that are natural remedies. Might also allow players with a poisoners kit proficiency to do so too as...

You could have the player characters encounter a professor and/or a new group of students from the nearby university who have also heard about the manor and are exploring it (without permission). They could become rivals or allies. Maybe they want to bring this alien creature into this world...

Why hasn't the wizard cleansed the manor himself? And how much does he know about what's really going on?

When I DM, I allow clerics of certain domains/faiths to have access to spells that the rules as written don't allow them to have. For example, it's ridiculous that tempest domain clerics can't cast Shocking Grasp or Witch Bolt. A cleric who worships Lolth should surely be able to cast Spider...
