    OSR OSRIC Versions?

A supplement will not help much as the math is pretty obvious and the real advantage is having the alternative numbers in the monsters' descriptions on the core book.

    OSR OSRIC Versions?

The best AC in AD&D is -10, which is translated to 30 in the ascending AC system. These systems are equivalent, as long as the rules they present are the same. As such, there is no difference in using one or another other than the ascending one is much more simple as it does no require a table.

    OSR OSRIC Versions?

I find OSRIC much superior as a rules set than AD&D. I still enjoy reading Gygax's prose in the original but the rules are much better laid down in OSRIC. The only thing I would like to see included was an option for ascending AC, as we can find inSwords & Wizardry and a few other OSR's product...

Are the polls a correct measurment of what the dnd players want?

It is very, very difficult to evaluate what customers want with pools. First of all, Wizards' pools at their site are useless because of the very biased sample of the universe of potential D&D players. Still, they might give some information of what their current customers with a habit of...

    Is math a flaw?

I have some experience playing and GMing Rolemaster, which requires summing numbers with three digits all the time. The thing is, most of the players were engineers and have little problem with these operations. However, less mathematical inclined people, such as the lawyer player really had a...

There are going to be a lot of people disappointed.

The d20 + modifier mechanic is not a problem except for the most obtuse old schoolers. A simpler game with few layers of complexity (feats, attacks of opportunities, and, perhaps, skills) is what a game should be designed to attract the OSR people. However, I doubt WotC is really trying to get...

WotC to Release 1st Edition Premium Core Rulebooks Reprints

I am playing 1st edition AD&D right now. My books are perfect but I might buy the new printing to support the Gygax Memorial. Also, only I and the DM have the books so I might convince some of my fellow players to support the initiative.

    Coming Soon!

Podcasts are far better than videocasts. I can listen then while I am commuting whereas I have no time to watch video. Please, consider adding an audio only feed.

How do you feel about the future of D&D after the official announcements?

Cautionly positive, as I applaud the design goals but I am unsure they can pull it out. Hopefuly, they will design a system that will turn D&D again a suitable system to introduce new players to the hobby. Being the brand with most awaresome, it is definitely a task D&D should tackle but have...

WotC Seeks Unity with a New Edition

I liked this statement. I always thought it was a mistake to make D&D more similar to online games as it is like playing your weakness instead of your strengths.

Legends and Lore - The Temperature of the Rules

After so much heated discussions in the previous entries, Cook played safe this time by avoiding to give us his personal position. If you ask me, I would throw half of the rules away to make my job as a DM easier.

Racial Level Limits: Did you Use Them?

We always used them but they were hardly a problem, as we found out we didn't enjoyed the game much at higher levels that, at the time, meant about ten.

9 essential geek books you must read right now.

I scored seven of nine, including The Visual Display of Quantitative Information, a book I would never expect to discuss in ENWorld.

    What are the new 'Classics'?

I don't think any d20 or 4th edition adventure so far will achieve classic status, with the possible exception of Red Hand of Doom. However, I am not familiar with Paizo's Pathfinder adventures.

Which editions of D&D do you own the core books for?

All core books of: AD&D with revised covers AD&D 2nd edition revised D&D Rules Cyclopedia (missing at the pool) D&D 4th edition Essentials I might buy a 3.5 set just to complete my collection, although I have little desire in playing 3.x again.

    WotC didn't necessarily save D&D

In many ways I can understand your feelings. I think d20 is too complex and formed a barrier to attract new players, being thus a poor interaction of D&D. However, you should notice AD&D was a aging system much in need of a major revision. Perhaps WotC followed a direction different to the one...

    Call of Cthulhu or Traveler?

Those are two of my favourite games. Both have simple rules and offer near endless possibilities to adventures. I say you should choose based in either you want to play horror or space opera. If anything, some of the best adventures ever published were for Call of Ctulhu, whereas Traveller's...

Why the thought of D&D 5e makes me sad...

In regard to the eventual loss of customers with a new edition, I don't think WotC is too much worried about it. In every single transition, there were a loss, especially when the editions were significantly different, such as from 2nd to 3rd and from 3rd to 4th. As such, WotC is expecting that...

    1 minute combat rounds

I rather prefer to say it is an ideterminate period of time. As a turn remains being ten rounds, there is no conflict with the spells or any other rule. One minute is too long and really weird if you consider the game have provision to weapon speed factors, among other stuff I never used.
