You reap what you sow - GSL.

Unfortunately, pretty sure isn't enough to base a business on. :( Hyrum.

You reap what you sow - GSL.

I'm the complete opposite. I remember when Ryan Dancey basically dared companies to try and produce a PHB that was as well done as WotC's for the same price. No one came close. I think the pocket PHB was genius and earned Mongoose a lot of money, which was well deserved in my opinion. Hyrum.

    4e D&D GSL Live

Hey Clark, What are your thoughts on section 11.4? To me it looks like WotC can sue you for any reason, and whether or not they win, or the suit is dismissed, you still pay for their costs, which are solely determined by them. Is this a correct reading? Hyrum.

    It's up! Hyrum.

In the Name of the King

Here's my first draft concept for a 4e game. My current thought is to take the "points of light" idea and push it to the extreme, making the world similar to the Black Company books by Glen Cook, or the Malazan books by Steven Erickson and then smash these together with Rainbow Six by Tom...

The Chronicle of Burne, and Some Others of Lesser Importance *Updated May 17th, 2009*

This is pure genius, I love it! Hyrum.

    What is wrong with 4E?

Um, no. :) The books sold more than the 3.5 initial run, which was much, much less than the 3.0 run. From ICv2: Sell-in of 4th Edition has “far exceeded expectations” and even though the initial print run for 4th Edition was 50% higher than the order for the previous D&D 3.5 Edition...

    New GSL Announcement

Mongoose RuneQuest, Mongoose Traveller, ACTION! System, FATE/Spirit of the Century. There's 4, and 3 companies. :) Yes, it will be, because it's built on the OGL foundation and parts of it (the rules bits) will be open. You won't be able to use Golarion, but then again you can't use Greyhawk...

GSL questions for Scott Rouse and Mike Lescault

Wow. If that's true, that might be the nail in the coffin for me and 4e. I like some of what I've seen, and I don't like a lot of it, but with the announcement yesterday I've started brainstorming ideas but if the above ends up being true I'll have to rethink those ideas. Hyrum.

    New GSL Announcement

I'll admit I was wrong. :) I'm GLAD there will be a GSL. I'm not 100% sold on 4e yet but I do have the books on pre-order with Amazon. :) Hyrum. OWC

GSL questions for Scott Rouse and Mike Lescault

The problem is that WotC wants Gleemax to function as a MySpace for gamers. One stop shopping for all your D&D needs. Letting people run fansites outside the Gleemax bubble is contrary to that vision. There's supposed to be a free component to Gleemax although they haven't been clear on what...

GSL questions for Scott Rouse and Mike Lescault

Yeah, but they can say they're still looking into it and will have a decision "soon". If they cancel it before GenCon they have to talk about why in seminar after seminar after seminar. Hyrum.

GSL questions for Scott Rouse and Mike Lescault

Um, Jonathan Tweet is an employee of WotC, Robin Laws has been working on his Gumshoe games (including Trail of Cthulhu), and Ray is hip deep in video game work. :) Hyrum.

D20 Steampunk Setting? Does one exist?

The first section of our Forbidden Kingdoms pulp setting is titled Steampulp and the expansion Paris: The Spectral City is also set in the 1889 time period. You can get both here: http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=2691&it=1&filters=0_0_0&manufacturers_id=97...

WOTC, Scott, Where in the World is the GSL

Interestingly enough that job post was on the WotC site for a day or two before they took it down. I just checked and it's still not on their website. Hyrum.

Blog post on the feel of D&D (marmell, reynolds et all)

I'm sorry but I couldn't disagree with this more. I'm interested in playing a good RPG, not singing the praises of D&D. If I like it, I'll say so, if I don't, I won't. Just because I make money from the game and the industry doesn't mean I can't have an opinion. Hyrum.

GSL questions for Scott Rouse and Mike Lescault

I'm pretty sure that there will be a paid, limited license available for companies like Necro, Green Ronin, Fantasy Flight, and the others on the call. I don't think that 4e will be open for awhile, if ever. I would love to be wrong because I've got ideas for 4e products I'd like to sell, but...

GSL questions for Scott Rouse and Mike Lescault

I've got no doubt that Scott and Linae are on our side. :) But, I don't know if the VP of their department is, much less the new guy from Hasbro. Hyrum.
