Primal Items are up now instead of tomorow

Yeah, I'm being hyperbolic. If you're reading this, Kolja, I don't actually hate you. But this was going to be a highlight of the month for me, and I'm very annoyed there's nothing I want, and several things I don't want in the game at all.

Primal Items are up now instead of tomorow

I am tremendously disappointed by this article--I play a druid and a shaman, and there is basically nothing here I want at all. Never mind that the current selection of totems may be charitably described as anemic, and that the staffs in the books are intended for wizards, not druids. One new...

    PHB2 Classes simply better?

I'll echo what other people have said here, the PHB2 classes seem better laid out and designed, but not actually more powerful. My last three characters have all been from the PHB2, but I play back to back with classes that aren't and we seem to come out about the same. (The Warlord has better...

    Revenant up

Also: kobolds. I like the revenant a lot, as feat-intensive as it is to trick out. My one complaint is the ability score thing; I like the houserule where it's +2 Con, +2 to a score of your old race.

    Monster Manual 2 Analysis

I got a lot out of the analysis of the MM1 monsters, the defense and resistance statistics especially. Has anyone done something similar for the MM2 monster set? I would love to see if Will is still the go-to defense to shoot for, and if Fort is still only barely better than AC.

    Spiritual Weapon

You can actually move it anywhere--remember that you can target empty squares, since there could be something invisible there.

D&D Online To Go Free This Summer

There's still no druid class, right? That was the thing that killed my interest the most when it first came out.

    Shaman Spirit Companion Problem?

Yeah, since you will never take as much damage as an attack will dish out against the spirit, it's always to your benefit to have monsters attack it. Your DM will eventually learn to stop attacking it, when he realizes what a bad idea it is. And if you go Bear, where you have to spend a feat and...

What is your favorite class(es) so far? (4E)

Wow, what's with the Shaman hate? They're definitely one of my favorite classes right now. The spirit is like a mini-defender, able to take hits for the rest of the party to reduce their damage taken, and block the way. It creates a nexus of the battle--you always know something interesting will...

    Archspell E.D.

That's a lot of questions! Unfortunately, very few will have perfectly clear answers. 1. I'd say so. I interpret Living Spell as removing a daily power and giving you an extra encounter power, with that power being considered an encounter power for all effects. 2. Yes. To find half damage, add...

Classes and Roles: supply and demand

Controllers are great when they pick powers that hinder enemies. One level 3 pseudo-nova that's tons of fun is to daze a group of enemies with Color Spray, then knock them prone with Icy Terrain or Orbmaster's. Boom, you basically just stunned a whole bunch of enemies, and you can do that once...

OOTS 652: No Respect for the Wicked

Redcloak's fairly high level (he's used SMXIII), but I doubt he's epic. That battle with the Cleric would probably have been a lot shorter if he had even had ninth-level spells.

    Monk Preview

It'd be hard to distinguish an Earth Defender from the Warden, and a Fire Striker from the Sorcerer, though. A Water-themed class would be pretty awesome. On-topic: Monk looks cool! I'll add to the people wondering about its damage output (FoB ought to improve over tiers like the Sorc, I...

Pathfinder 1E Power and Pathfinder Classes - Forked Thread: Pathfinder - sell me

There're items called Nightsticks that let you get extra turning attempts. Them + DMM was what kept the CO board cheese going back in the day. (Of course, these days its hurting yourself with spiked gauntlets to fuel weapon attacks, so maybe we're not making so much progress after all) I...

OOTS 652: No Respect for the Wicked

From the SRD, Energy Drain only works on living creatures--it seems like fiat to let it apply to the Soul Splices. Anyway, I'm expecting her to throw out a teleport back to the group and dismiss her splices, properly humbled. If she had prepared properly (including taking a damn rank in...

    17-20 critical hits?

Raise the Stakes (Rogue 16) would work--gives you a 17-20 crit range for a turn, but monsters get a 19-20 against you. Doesn't need light blades or anything, and clearly much better for a multiclassed Ranger or Avenger, for the multiple attack rolls.

    I like 4e, but I miss... Forked Thread: I like 3E, but I miss...

This is one I'm confused by. The identical power structures, I can see (and agree with, to an extent), but I haven't seen any two classes with the exact same playstyle (well, wizard and invoker, maybe), and many have extremely divergent styles. My Wizard, Barbarian, Shaman and Swordmage all...

Heh, our last campaign was just ended by a beholder TPK. My barbarian was petrified. Don't tell me there aren't any more save-or-dies... I like 4e but I miss... -being able to turn an enemy into a bunny and having it stick -choosing a new spell list every single day, top to bottom -Having a...

Pathfinder 1E Interview with PATHFINDER lead designer Jason Bulmahn

It was a pretty good interview, but I would have liked a couple of harder questions, like about why Wizards and Clerics got buffed over their 3.5 versions. It was pretty softball for the most part. That said, in my group's Pathfinder Beta game, I've had more fun playing the Barbarian than with...

MM2 sneak peak / new warforged art

I don't really understand why having monsters that say "Good" at the bottom is important to people. (Incidentally, I count 16 good monsters in the Compendium, most of which are potential allies like Sir Keegan.) I mean, there is literally no difference mechanically between a Good dragon and an...
