Forked Thread: The Lethality of Keep on the Shadowfell (Paging Mr. Mearls or Cordell)

Well, if you split it into waves the first wave is between a level 1 and level 2 encounter (550 XP) and the second wave is between a level 2 and level 3 encounter (700 XP). I suspect there may be an unwritten assumption that the two waves occur far enough apart that the party can pop off any...

    The Lethality of 4E

A couple of things I've noted to date: (1) Terrain really matters. Life get's very difficult if the PC's manage to get themselves on the wrong side of some terrain. They've started figuring out that it's a bad idea to let themselves get bottlenecked in most situations. Sometimes it works to...

What's this forking thing I keep seeing. Is the thread attached to another one or something?

    Rescue at Rivenroar Posted

Well, the flip side is that the online version has some advantages. I just haven't seen them taken advantage of yet.

    Doing the GSL. Who?

Thanks for the pointer to the list. It's pretty small and hasn't been updated since 6/27 though. Or . . . that's it so far. :)

    Doing the GSL. Who?

Actual GSL. That's sorta why I'm asking, really. This whole GSL vs. 4E thing is really interesting and I'm trying to get a sense of what the relative inclination for one vs. the other is.

    Doing the GSL. Who?

Which 3PP's have announced that they are going to publish under the GSL? Is there a place where a list like this is compiled? ****UPDATE**** Here's the link to the only list I've found so far. Small and out of date (I think) though . . . http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1053154 You...

    Combat Challenge and Opportunity Attack

You get one opportunity action PER OPPONENT, so technically you can have multiple OA's in a round. Just not against the same opponent.

    Nine Prayers to the Raven

Heh. Sorry to ruin your hunt. :( I put an easter egg in the handouts for my players that references one of the new 4E products. It's a tough one though, which is why they get an n+5 item if they can find it.

    Nine Prayers to the Raven

DMG pg. 24 It's the translation. Thought to myself, "That's gotta be in the DMG. Way to much flavor for the PHB or the MM." Opened the DMG, started flipping, saw the big door, started counting the runes and saw that they corresponded to the passage. No clue how I found it so fast . . .

Do people really want/use fan adventures?

I wonder if new DM's or those that only run modules are more likely to use fan generated material? Seems like most experienced DM's also like to generate their own stuff? Is that even true?

Thoughts after three sessions of 4E

Yep. I'm quite sure. Even looked at the Errata, just to make sure. I have no idea what everyone else is talking about.

Me too. Still not sure, though.

Thoughts after three sessions of 4E

Eh. Apparently one player has already exploded in an apoplectic fit. *shrug* Serves me right for making the suggestion, "When you're getting turned into a pincushion by an Elven Archer, you might want to consider moving to where he doesn't have line of sight on you. Additionally, the...

    The Early Verdict (kinda long)

You can make the encounters as difficult to run as you want. To make them more difficult, add more roles. Better yet, add two different creatures with the same kind of role in. The 2nd paragraph in the right hand column of pg. 57 of the DMG talks briefly about the pitfalls of building an overly...

    4E DM's Surprised By Players?

Yep. I'm actually kind of shocked at how much I like the change.

    4E DM's Surprised By Players?

By this I mean, have any of your players suddenly shocked you with their never before seen tactical brilliance? Or stupidity? Anyone else surprised by sudden changes in the way your group "works" in a social sense? I have this one player who is generally what the DMG calls a "watcher." In our...
