Dhampir and Other Species To Be Included in Astarion's Book of Hungers

I'd say I wouldn't hold my breath, but since Dhampir's don't need to breathe, that seems moot. We'll see on Tuesday

Dhampir and Other Species To Be Included in Astarion's Book of Hungers

Lot of assumptions there. We don't know what what (is any) form the future Ravenloft product will take, but the few hints have been the horror UA and Ed Greenwood's slip of the tongue. I feel more confident about a sourcebook with player facing options than CoS 2: Electric Boogaloo, but we won't...

Dhampir and Other Species To Be Included in Astarion's Book of Hungers

I mean, all they can do is boycott and complain, something D&D players have been doing for years now. I don't think it's going to change much; I doubt those parts will ever go free. But hopefully they think hard on future dlc packs.

Dhampir and Other Species To Be Included in Astarion's Book of Hungers

They (and reborn and hex blood) were in VGR. If they reprinted them with changes (I highly suspect dhampir will be undead type) they will be in the next Ravenloft/horror book.

Dhampir and Other Species To Be Included in Astarion's Book of Hungers

So, Heroforge has done collaborations with a lot of RPG publishers (Hit Point Press, KB, Coyote and Crow, etc) for specific unique parts as promotion for their game. Skycastle (HF parent company) just announced a colab with Daggerheart to have three of their unique species (a frog race, mushroom...

Dhampir and Other Species To Be Included in Astarion's Book of Hungers

Eh... I would not be so quick to jump into Darrington Presses open arms considering what their collaboration with Heroforge has done to the latter community. They have absolutely no issues with digital only DLC...

Dhampir and Other Species To Be Included in Astarion's Book of Hungers

I'm 98% certain the dhampir and related feats will appear in the Horror based Ravenloft product coming out in 2026 with the subclasses. Your paying for the Asterion stuff and early access.

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

BoCD? Is that a fourth edgelord book?

Dhampir and Other Species To Be Included in Astarion's Book of Hungers

I love vampire stuff, so I'm interested in all the new toys and monster stats. I'm also interested in the Lorwyn/fey stuff. Not sure about Nethril, that might be a skip.

Not gonna lie, more excited about this than the actual books (as good as they are).

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

BoED/BoVD was products of their time. When people talk about how kiddy friendly D&D has become, I remind them what WotC looks like when they try to go edgy. (I also lump the 3pp Book of Erotic Fantasy in this as the trifecta of tryhard.)

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

They intentionally did add dud feats, for the same reason Magic: The Gathering adds inferior cards to a set, part of the game is assembling and playable character/deck and part is being able to pilot it. They said intentionally that feats like Toughness and Dodge were intentionally bad when...

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

Why do you think that is? I'd maintain that a lot of those theoretical "modules" weren't as popular as people thought they would be. WotC did try experimenting in early in 5e's life (Greyhawk initiative, mass combat, prestige classes) and none of them made it out of UA. Even most of the options...

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

And people know what I'm referring to when I reference grognards who can't accept the game has moved past 1986, but that probably isn't a good way to get them to listen.

    D&D 5E (2024) Let's dream up new FR-style books for other Settings.

I have mixed feelings on MotRD. I love it in concept, but it really needs its own version of D&D with appropriate classes and gear and such. I've seen several attempts to make it work and none have ever scratches my itch right. I'm more tempted to do with something like Stokerverse than try to...

    D&D 5E (2024) Let's dream up new FR-style books for other Settings.

Not sure if they need two books, but a companion piece to Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft would be appreciated. We already have horror subclasses, and the Ravenloft lineages to reprint. Add some feats and backgrounds and the PC side is done. Then they can either expand a few domains (Lamordia...

New Unearthed Arcana Brings Back Five Subclasses

The other thing is that they may already have a second project in the works and despite the issues with FotA, they may have to follow through with it. It's not like they can magically create an additional 190 pages of material and art with the snap of their fingers. The other alternative is to...

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

It reminds me of Pathfinder and how conditions can have X severity, where X is the penalty for the condition (like skip x actions or -X to saves). In theory, you could have boss monsters reduce the penalty severity (bosses only take half or quarter of X) but it is still going to be the kind of...

New Unearthed Arcana Brings Back Five Subclasses

It will depend on sales figures for a book that isn't for sale yet. Unless you got those in your crystal ball Nostradamus, let's see how well this plays out.

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

Granted, but in practicality I know Eberron is WotC's, not Keith's to do with.
