    Centaur Paladin and Special Mount

We use Central Casting, a background random-generator. One of the perks that has come up before is immunity to disease. Maybe those touched by paladins become immune to all normal diseases. T'would be a hell of a role-playing perk.

How much subdual can YOU do ?

Wait. MotW has a +1 special ability for weapons that converts all damage to subdual and does +1d6 damage, too? What's the catch? Is it unable to inflict normal damage, like Merciful?

    Axioms of D&D

Heh. Reminds me of our Star Wars Top 10 List: 1. Jedi attract trouble. 2. Cute is bad. Cute and furry is worse. 3. When th GM draws a map, combat is near. 4. When characters near a cliff, precipice, or power core, climactic combat is near. 5. Dodge is the most important skill you can have. 6...

Sorry, we'll have to amputate your arms. Oh, and your legs too.

As a DM, I would examine the Dragonstar setting for ideas and/or ask for the half-machine template recently posted in Dungeon magazine (I don't know if it's OGC, though). As a player, I'd need to think about how my character would react if this should happen. In any case, I'd talk this...

    Reflex saves when Stunned?!?

I'm not worried about who wins or loses. Chalk it up to karma, or fate, or luck, but I will still give everyone a saving throw, no matter what. It's like giving a saving throw to avoid dying to a CdG: slim, but perhaps possible.

    Reflex saves when Stunned?!?

Good point, Caliban. I should just assign a condition of Helpless to those stuck in a tunnel and either grant them a Reflex Save (albeit at a severe disadvantage) or disallow Reflex Saves for all Helpless characters. I guess I'll have to add a new House Rule, then, because I'm now convinced...

    Reflex saves when Stunned?!?

IceBear, I really, really want to agree with you. Your arguments make sense, even if the rules are not 100% clear. However, IMC, it simply doesn't hurt to give everyone a chance (however slim) to survive something requiring a Reflex Save when they're Helpless. In my mind, being Helpless is...

    A question on Sunder

I don't think your dragon is strong enough to Sunder that spiked chain. It may be easier to disarm it instead. Opposed attack rolls, compare sizes, give +4 to the spiked chain wielder. Winner gets the spiked chain. Man, a dragon with a spiked chain would rock.

    Reflex saves when Stunned?!?

IceBear, you sound frustrated. I don't know if my interpretations will help, but I will try: Helpless (bound, held, sleeping, paralyzed, or unconscious) DO get a Reflex save, but their Dex is effectively 0. Bound (helpless) characters cannot use Evasion. Thus, sleeping rogues cannot use...

Big monster vs. Building: Need some help here. (KotSQ SPOILERS)

I wouldn't have changed Harm at all, simply because there are ways around that spell. Though I did provide the rules on dropping a ten-ton block of ice, I think it's a bit overkill. Perhaps you can metagame for a bit and retcon your Harm decision if your players will take back their decision to...

Big monster vs. Building: Need some help here. (KotSQ SPOILERS)

Hmm. I'd use the rule on Cave-Ins and Collapses (DMG p. 114) to determine when a roof would shatter. If you're feeling generous, you could scale up from the typical 2" stone floor to simulate a particularly sturdy roof. Once half the hit points are gone, the roof should be treated as "weakened"...

[BADD] How would a Dragon MOVE its hoard?

If I had to rationalize the lifestyle of a great white wyrm, I'd probably imagine a cat who dines on whales. He wakes up whenever, burrows away, eats, then comes back. If he found a pretty that he really liked, he freezes it and mouths it on the way back to its lair. He sleeps in one cavern...

BADD- evaluate my dragon DM'ing? (KotSQ, Glacier Season module SPOILERS)

This is an interesting interpretation, and differs from mine, so I thought I'd discuss it. IMC, AMF is centered on the character (surrounds the character) and emanates 10' from him. In my mind, this represents the entire dragon, plus 10' in all directions (up, down, all around).

BADD- evaluate my dragon DM'ing? (KotSQ, Glacier Season module SPOILERS)

I actually dislike option 4 (Blackmail). Regardless of what went down in the cave, exposing yourself just to wipe out a village is more dangerous for the dragon than doing a simple Sending to the king. If I absolutely had to retaliate, I would drop an Acid Fog on the PC's keep, destroy some...

SHOULD a monk be allowed to use shields?

I thought that monks could use Animated Shields without penalty? In any case, armor bonuses are distinct from shield bonuses IMC, so I have no problems with monks who attempt to use shields. There's only so much wealth floating around, and magic mithral bucklers are often less desirable than a...

    converting armor

I'd simply calculate the market value of +1 dlarun chain mail and debit the cost of a MW dlarun chain shirt and a MW dlarun weapon. It would probably take more time than money to do, but in any case I certainly would not preserve the enhancement bonus of the chainmail.

Monster ECLs, Part 2 (was "Lizardfolk = 4?!?")

I agree with everyone who thinks that the Dragon article is a bit too conservative, and think that the ECLs should drop by 1 across the board if below ECL 6, drop by 2 if below ECL 12, and drop by 3 if below ECL 20. I hope you're all planning to write and voice your opinions, instead of...

Convergence in Autumn Light: An OA/Rokugan Variant Campaign

Kitsu Shiro's Background (Part III) The storm howls sending ripples across the low paddies. You keep your eyes down as the wind kicks up water in the pools at the foot of your horse. Slowly making your way along the twisting path, you consider leaving the green valley and returning to the...
