Homebrew Regarding converting O5E third party and homebrew classes to A5E

The psyknight from A5e's Voidrunner's Codex would be a good comparison class. They're both trying to model the same thing essentially.

Homebrew Regarding converting O5E third party and homebrew classes to A5E

What kind if classes are you looking to convert, and what do they offer that existing A5e classes do not? I think that would be a good first step (though everyone else's advice on how to do the actual conversion if sound too).

    Castles&Crusades: Is this "The One"?

Man, I woul Man, I would play either version of Hackmaster (I have both) if I could. Too many games, not enough players who like old school playstyles.

    Castles&Crusades: Is this "The One"?

ACKS II is my go-to OSR game. There's little to nothing you can't do in a fantasy RPG with it.

    GURPS 4th Edition Revised Announced

Well it is appreciated. It also helps that we're not talking about WotC D&D (it angries up the blood)!

    I made a terrible life decision…

I usually go by genre, then by company, with the boxed sets mostly separate due to shelf height.

    I made a terrible life decision…

This is amazing! Now I have something to show my wife when she says I have more gaming books than anybody. So beautiful.

Ravenloft was always one of my favorite settings.

Ok, I didn't know that's how TORG works; like I said, never played it. If those are the laws of the setting, then IMO the mechanics are simulation and get a pass.

Level Up (A5E) A5E Druid wild shape change - equipment worn/wielded always merges

Yeah, I always thought vegepygmies were sapient creatures, so I would be tempted to veto them as a wildshape by that principle. And I have no problem houseruling that size Small creatures can't use heavy shields, just like they can't use heavy weapons in my game.

Never played TORG. That much narrative mechanical weight seems a little off-putting to me, though I'm sure others like it.

Pendragon is a good one, and definitely falls into my exception category for genre-appropriate play (although I appreciate all the representational mechanics it has as well).

Can you give some examples? I haven't played games like that in a while.

Level Up (A5E) A5E Druid wild shape change - equipment worn/wielded always merges

Are we assuming the druid is Wildshaping into a gorilla, or something else with hands? Because otherwise, how are you wielding that shield?

    GURPS 4th Edition Revised Announced

I did say there were exceptions. Savage Worlds has always had some metacurrency, but most of its rules, like those of most traditional games IME, are simulative of something real in the setting. Most of the time, that's what I want.

    GURPS 4th Edition Revised Announced

I see all traditional games as having a simulationist drive as part of their make-up, even if it isn't the most important thing. Most rules elements look to simulate something that exists in the setting of the game, not in the meta layer, and rules in the meta layer, above the setting, are...

    GURPS 4th Edition Revised Announced

Not sure what you mean by the difference, but assuming you mean why I have a problem in traditional games but not otherwise, I guess it's a "no peanut butter in my chocolate" thing. I like traditional games. I like (to some degree and only a few examples) games with metacurrency. I don't...

    GURPS 4th Edition Revised Announced

I have to agree. I dislike metacurrency on general principle on most games, because it feels like I'm being asked to leave my PCs point of view for the sake of the "story", and I generally don't want mechanics that operate on that level anywhere near the players. I will note that there are a...
