Level Up (A5E) A5E Druid wild shape change - equipment worn/wielded always merges

By the A5E rules as written, a Druid can wild shape into plant or beast form, and use their Druid proficiencies therein. Druids have shield proficiency. Vegepygmies are humanoid shaped and tool using, with weapons such as spears and slings. They are size small. I don't see any limitations on size small characters using a heavy shield on page 317 of the A5E Adventurer's Guide.

Now in your campaign, perfectly fine if you want to house rule that size small creatures cannot use a heavy shield, or that Vegepygmy is not a valid form for a Druid to wild shape into. Likewise, Vegepygmy is a 5E D&D creature, not an A5E one, so it was with my DM's permission that Vegepygmy has been allowed as a form; and as we thought its regeneration capability was too good for a PC, we dropped that.
Yeah, I always thought vegepygmies were sapient creatures, so I would be tempted to veto them as a wildshape by that principle. And I have no problem houseruling that size Small creatures can't use heavy shields, just like they can't use heavy weapons in my game.
