    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

That's not true. Every class has decision points in the action economy. The only difference here is you seem the be under the false impression that rangers should be entitled to have hunter's mark up at all times just because they have hunter's mark. That's an opinion. It doesn't change the...

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

The stun or other monk abilities are not as versatile at the ranger spells.

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

Monk's "spell DC" is misleading because of the lack of a spell list. There's literally no reason to stack the ranger's spell DC like that. The only issue is favoring a DEX ranger vs a STR ranger when DEX is the primary class ability score. If you want to make this inclusive for an ability...

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

Making a good capstone better for no other reason than "because we can" or "why not" isn't a reason to make it better. That's silly. You'd be better off to argue +2 in those 3 stats for more parity to other capstones.

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

The concern is WIS and DEX cover a lot of skills already, common saving throws, attacks and AC, and in the ranger's case the DC of his spell list that would exceed other spell casters. That's already a lot so adding in STR too because why?

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

Yes, +4 STR, DEX, AND WIS is better than +4 DEX and WIS. Just giving the same capstone as the monk would make more sense since WIS and DEX are the 2 primary ability scores for the ranger.

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

I'm not a fan of spells as a class feature either like how Hunter's Mark is being implemented either, but I would point out that this was a suggestion among the complaints when the 2014 ranger came. Implementing those suggestions was WotC listening to the player base, who had a public playtest...

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

Nah. When some of us realize roving granting a swim speed also removes penalties for fighting in the water it will be "push them into the moat, push them into the moat, push them into the moat" 🙃 Someone just pointed out the fallacy in comparing a class to a subclass. ;-) It would be more...

    D&D 5E (2024) Spirt Guardians

So you don't support my option to pay 300gp per spirit guardians spell in any town or city (per Chpt 6 under spell casting services) and choose to have it cast while being launch through the air by catapult or trebuchet for mass aerial combat? Cuz it sounds like something I would put into a web...

D&D 5E (2024) Aldridge B. Hex, the Harbinger of Nightmares

This is an idea I've been toying with but haven't implemented yet in the past. It's the idea of a bard based around the themes of dreams and nightmares as sources of emotion and motivation. The idea comes mainly from Alice Cooper's portrayal in Dynamite Comics' CHAOS! universe as the Lord of...

D&D 5E (2024) The Magic Market and Spell Scrolls

So if experienced DM's aren't going to have any issues, what's the impact with new or inexperienced DM's?

D&D 5E (2024) The Magic Market and Spell Scrolls

So the basic equipment list does include spell scrolls. Characters have the option to purchase cantrip spell scrolls for 30 gp and 1st level spell scrolls for 50 gp. It's always the DM's prerogative to decide what the availability of adventuring gear is available in a shop, but I foresee this...

D&D 5E (2024) The math of the GWF Fighting Style and why its as good as a +1 (and possibly better than defense)

A lot of those abilities add to the weapon damage or attack damage in their wording. They should apply.

D&D 5E (2024) The math of the GWF Fighting Style and why its as good as a +1 (and possibly better than defense)

A greater degree of diversity in fighting style feats would be my first thought. My second thought is that an eldritch knight subbing in truestrike, green-flame blade, or booming blade for an attack adds several more dice into the equation. Truestrike dice at 11th level is 4d6 using a...

D&D 5E (2024) The math of the GWF Fighting Style and why its as good as a +1 (and possibly better than defense)

Ohh..... I can play this game! 🙃 Let's say...... The champion fighter picked up the light cantrip via origin feat or species and doesn't need blindfighting or darkvision........ :p There aren't 1d6 greatweapons. The average damage on something like a great axe is worse of a bonus than it...

D&D 5E (2024) The Problem with Healing Powercreep

For people figuring out second wind healing, 2024 fighters start with 2 now and 3 or 4 later. They regain 1 on a short rest and all on a long rest. If we're talking tiers of play we should have 3+1 per short rest in tier 2 and 4+1 per short rest in tiers 3 and 4. ie. It's not hard for a...

    D&D 5E (2024) Warlock -- initial analyses

You seem to be missing my point. I don't need to try to fit eldritch blast in at all so why would I be trying to under that premise? I can take minor illusion, mage hand, and another cantrip like friends or blade ward because I get a free damage cantrip. Sure, I can get more damage out of...

D&D 5E (2024) Rogues plus Nick and Vex

Maybe. But it doesn't work for my nightmare bard theme. Alice Cooper's character in comics inspired through terror as he expressed that it's okay to feel terror as one works through it. His main ability was to warp the perception of others and matching that to what they feared, but also other...

D&D 5E (2024) Rogues plus Nick and Vex

Yeah, I was also tempted to variate the name for my next character who is a glamour bard based on Alice Cooper's role in Dynamite Comics' CHAOS! Universe as the Lord of Nightmares. Main focus of illusions and fear. Except without nick or vex in the build the variations were hard to come up...
