Spoilers TV Shows with Great Endings

I thought What We Do In the Shadows ended well. I was sad to see it go, but I’m glad they decided to finish the series before it got too long in the tooth (pun probably intended).

    Battletech Public Playtest Thread

I once tried making Pulse Lasers behave like you described (along with machine guns, hit for 1 dmg in 3 locations), but in the end we shelved it since it slowed things down even more, and we just kind of accepted that BattleTech has a lot of “reality-bending” quirks that just come with the game.

New Star Trek Movie Coming From D&D Movie Creators

I agree, I think there’s room for humour in Trek, but I don’t want to see something approaching Lower Decks turned into a film. I thought the filmmakers had a good balance of fun, action, and drama with Homecoming. Hmmm… the thought they could make their Trek movie too silly now has me a little...

New Star Trek Movie Coming From D&D Movie Creators

Cautiously optimistic with them at the helm! I like that they seem to be introducing new characters too!

@Kannik thanks for sharing your alternate rules! I don’t think I would adopt them wholesale for my games, but they were well written. The 2d8 proposal is something I might consider trying. When I used to run convention games I always made the base gunnery “3” instead of “4” to make hitting a...

    You're Top-10 Movies/Shows based on Games

Oh wow, I totally forgot about the Warcraft movie until I read that… I even saw it in the theater!

    You're Top-10 Movies/Shows based on Games

If I’m counting movies and TV shows I’d put Arcane, Last of Us, and even Fallout at the top. After that maybe DaDHAT. I haven’t seen Clue in ages, I should probably give that another watch. I only saw the first Sonic movie but it was fun. The Castlevania animated series was pretty good too.

    You're Top-10 Movies/Shows based on Games

What no love for the Captain Lou Super Mario Super show? Or the 90’s quasi-dystopian Super Mario movie (ok, I kind of have a weird soft spot for the latter).

RPG CROWDFUNDING NEWS – Dungeons of Drakkenheim, Pioneer, MÖRK BORG日本語版, and more

I’ve been having a blast playing DH and I didn’t think I would, since I’m not a huge follower of CR. My main D&D group has now switched to it from 5e. I didn’t support the Drakkenheim KS as it’s not a setting I want to play in, but I’ve been rooting for it to do well since I want to see if it...

Modules: Made to Read vs Made to Run?

I feel like sometimes the author had an interesting idea for a story and they got so wrapped up in the telling of it that they almost forgot they were making a game, that or their story just didn’t translate well into a game. The big pet peeve I have is when the module doesn’t have a succinct...

What is your favourite character type, (prof, class etc) And why?

My preferences tend to revolve around 2 types: a heart-of-gold scoundrel who has a lot of versatile tricks but NO magic powers. Or a tortured-by-his-past hero with a martyr complex who might make the ultimate sacrifice by the end. But since I’m almost always the GM for multiple groups I play...

What Non-D&D Would You Use For A Dungeon Focused Campaign

I haven’t played Torchbearer but also have heard good things, but I’m also going to vote for Dragonbane. It does classic dungeon adventures quite nicely. I have one group that’s an interesting mix of very old school gamers and new, young players and it’s proven to be the nice”meet in the...

    What was your 2nd RPG?

First was B/X, second was Gamma World (1E). Third was probably Star Frontiers, and then it all gets blurry with Marvel Super Heroes, the James Bond rpg, Gangbusters, and even the Indiana Jones game (that sacrificed itself to give us the Diana Jones award).

    Mutant Year Zero

Having recently gotten into Dragonbane and then backing the Invincible RPG kickstarter, I’ve been looking at other games in the Free League catalog and I’ve become curious about Mutant Year Zero. I have a huge nostalgia spot for Gamma World, but each edition is kind of a mixed bag in terms of...

D&D General Do you think we might start to see more varied Tiefling art to match the PHB descriptions?

I don’t disagree, but I think it helped popularize tieflings (and the way they looked in the game) to a wider audience. I know a few casual gamers who didn’t care much about tieflings until Karlach.

D&D General Do you think we might start to see more varied Tiefling art to match the PHB descriptions?

I’ve also encouraged varying appearances for tieflings, ala Planescape, but I think another thing that’s cemented their more modern look is BG3 and their prevalence there.

D&D General Poll: How many Role Playing Games do you play besides D&D?

In the last year I’ve played or run games in: Star Trek Adventures Sentinels Comics Shadowdark Dragonbane Daggerheart FATE Mechwarrior Destiny World of Darkness (homebrew hack of the 5th ed system to allow Mages & Changelings) And about to start a Star Wars game (west end) Over my lifetime...
