I love this openess, and I'm going to bring this up with my group.

I'm familiar with Nimble and Shadowdark, and they are both very smartly done. What would you say are the strengths of Index Card RPG and 5 Torches Deep? I've heard of them, but have no experience with them.

It is overtly, pointedly addressing real-world issues, but in a different way. Thunderbolts is arguably overt about it, but does a lot of its work with metaphors.

This is a good point. I was going to suggest the option of a Sherlock-like approach, with three or four 1.5-hour episodes/movies per season, but that would have the same problem.
