Beat Takeshi's Zatoichi was great. I just bought an import DVD and watched it last week. I would have loved to have seen it on the big screen. I currently own about a dozen of the Shintaro Katsu Zatoichi films but have yet to get around to watching them. :(

I just picked up this series a couple weeks ago and just finished watching it Monday. What a great show. I worry about its commercial viability even as a movie, though. Hopefully it'll catch on and be successful, enabling sequels.

John Steakley's stuff is cool! I would also recommend his other book, Armor, a sci-fi Starhip Troopers-ish story that also stars the two main characters from his Vampire$ book. Manly men! Doing manly things! Like killing vampires or hordes of evil aliens!

I'd say those definitely qualify as dire swords. They certainly look better than the examples shown in Arcana Unearthed. Very cool.
