    Dragonlance Dragonlance Philosophy thread

So following Paladine's teachings inevitably leads to intolerance and forced compliance, which results in more Cataclysms? Sounds like LG is bad for the world. And this is why Krynn's alignment interpretations are completely stupid.

    Dragonlance Dragonlance Philosophy thread

Paladine says that if there is too much good then it becomes intolerant, and basically stops being good. So Good=intolerance and forced conformity. So if too much good means Intolerance, then too much evil must lead to Tolerance. or all things being permissable- true freedom of choice. CG Elves...

    Dragonlance Dragonlance Philosophy thread

Only Evil gives free will or freedom of choice, as Good apparently is Tyranny and Subservience without choice. Which doesn't sound particularly good. Color Coded Morality, meaning everyone does the same terrible stuff but wears different team logos. People's role in relationship to their...

Dragonlance Dragonlance cataclysm and a bit about Paladine

Except the chief God of Good said that the Kingpriest wasn't evil, and was in fact a good man. The problem with DL is that the core philosophy is "when you get too much good, it stops being good". The world NEEDS murder, genocide, and rape or Good doesn't feel Good. It's trying to utilize...

Dragonlance Dragonlance cataclysm and a bit about Paladine

The worst thing about DL is dumb views on alignment. As i've said before, the god of Good, who lives on a plane of Good, surrounded by Good celestials, escorted by his Good dragons, and is the eternal afterlife of his Good followers wants us to believe that having too much Good around is a bad...

D&D 5E (2024) Should 1D&D introduce silver standard for prices?

The way that D&D encourages the accumulation of wealth we need more larger denominations.

    D&D 5E (2014) Could D&D Die Again?

There were enough people still playing older editions to create the OSR movement. That has to stand as some kind of example. I just don't think people who play D&D would get the same gaming experience, that they obviously love, switching to Call of Cthulhu.

    D&D 5E (2014) Could D&D Die Again?

I can't see it dying in the foreseeable future, even if Hasbro closed up shop and nothing for D&D was produced ever again. No other game does what D&D does, the way D&D does it.

    Rules Aren't Important

Sure they are. The limitation is, in your vernacular, the fiction.

    Lore Isn't Important

Lore fills the gaps that I don't feel like filling. I would never try to follow the lore for the established D&D settings- I'm not interested in trying to remain faithful to whatever novel they are trying to sell.
