GMs: What is your prep to play ratio?

Given that I only run homebrewed campaigns and dismissing pre-campaign prep, I probably average at 1.5 to 2 x prep time to hour played. But for major setpieces and evolving intrigues and conspiracies it can be way more. But that’s a major part of myGMing fun.

[Old school] I can't deal with inventory

Imho fantasy is a gear genre, so for me fiddling with inventories is fine, it’s part of the game play. And since I use Savage Pathfinder these days, I’m also fine with players sacrificing a Bennie (metacurrency) to find rope or whatnot in their backpack if they lack it.

    What was your 2nd RPG?

My first was The Fantasy Trip, then Traveller and Runequest - in my mind they entered at the same time.

Fantasy Grounds Is Going Free To Play

I might have jumped on this just to have official Traveller material on a VTT. But since Mongoose is working on stuff for Foundry, then nope.

    GURPS settings appreciation thread

I own GURPS books but have never played it. But as an og Car Wars fan boy, Autoduel was amazing!

Which new RPG Book(s) would like to see in 2026?

My biggest wish is that WFRP 5e core actually gets out in 2026 as promised.

    Burger me!

Since I don’t eat things with four legs for health reasons, I like and make a lot of fish, veggie and chicken burger variants. Currently my favourite is probably a minced chicken patty seasoned with Thai chili, fish sauce, cilantro etc, with light, fluffy and relatively thin wheat bread buns...

    Matt Colville's Community

And this is a plague no matter what subject. Politics, fly fishing - the yapping heads are there, filling endless minutes with (if we’re lucky) 98% redundancy. It’s horrible. Edit: I almost wrote hell on earth, but there’s no gamma priests or evil robots around to lighten the mood.

    Matt Colville's Community

I can make an overly long and highly redundant video to explain.

    Hours actually playing RPGs, non-D&D?

Since I spent a month this spring in intensive heart care at the hospital and have been rehabing since then, and are just about to start up my first rpg actual gaming activity, a new Savage Pathfinder campaign, 2025 is not a representative year. But after 45 years of roleplaying, I’ve spent the...

    My Fingerprinting Woes Continue

Seem like a modern day rpg perk to me.

And like almost all YT persona videos, those 15 minutes could be made into a text with the actual essence that takes 30 seconds to read. I intensely mourn the death of textual communication, it’s like we as humanity take a big dump on all the advantages of written text and the progress it has...

    RPG Factions

As a GM that always run sandboxy campaigns, creating my own factions and organizations is part of my prep fun. I get inspiration from rpgs but even more from literature, media, history and current real world events. In general, I find rpg factions way too clumsy and on the nose, simply not...

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 5th Edition Is Coming in 2026

My only bug with the starter set is that the premade characters have a lots of XP, and it doesn't adequately reflect the power level when starting a new char.

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

Archives 3 for WFRP4e. Which I won’t use for a year, since I’ve postponed the start of my WFRP campaign until 5e 😂

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 5th Edition Is Coming in 2026

I have faith in that everything but the core book will stay relevant and usable. Mostly because that’s what C7 pitch now and the backlash would be massive from the fan base otherwise. But who knows, capitalism is sadly capitalism - if a company can get away with f*ucking me for more profit they...

    Our Physical Fitness

After starting hitting the gym 5-6 days/week late spring I’ve now lost 45 pounds, gained a lot of muscle mass and have bought a new, shorter waist belt. 😀 I’ve also without effort kicked everything sweet and are restrictive with salt. I’ve a bad foot that means no really tough cardio, but...

Do you use "voice acting" when you play?

I only game/forever GM via Foundry, and we use Discord for sound and video. And I’m very active in front of the camera taking on roles. It’s fun - not great acting - and seem to engage the players. Like, everyone knows that gnomes speak with an Italian accent right? How could I do that without...

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 5th Edition Is Coming in 2026

Yeah, MooMan does the Foundry developement for all C7 games as I understand it, it’s not like he’s rolling his thumbs waiting for 5e stuff to trickle in.

Do you use "voice acting" when you play?

yes, it’s part of my GM fun and my players seem to like it, even though I’m probably more silly than good.
