Which new RPG Book(s) would like to see in 2026?

Interested to see what Brotherwise Games is cooking for Plotweaver, the generic version of the Cosmere RPG.

What are you reading in 2025?

I looked up "Julian Mays religous views" out of curiosity and got the weirdest AI hallucination from Google as the top result...it alternated between talking about the Sci-Fi writer (who is going on the to-read) and the Roman Emperor Julian the Apostate and completely copy-pastad their life...

D&D General Forgotten Realms: Real World Gods Still Present in the Old Empires

Still never seen he precisely legal language that supposedly means that. The blog post remains important because it explains what WotC does and why. It is what theybare doing. And have for years. Canon and metaplot are juat not a concern, except as laid out in that blog post.

Dhampir and Other Species To Be Included in Astarion's Book of Hungers

Oh, I don't think they will need to do much to make it an option: I can juat grab it, scratch the serial numbers off and call it "Sky-Atlantis" and WotC couldn't stop me.

D&D General Forgotten Realms: Real World Gods Still Present in the Old Empires

They have said repeatedly that previous Canon os a cafeteria of options, and they are not going to be bound by it. It is not "sloppy", it is precisely what they have said theybare doing for years.

D&D General Does anyone else starting to feel like FR: HoF & FR: AiF were starved of resources because of the Core Books

Nah, seems they devoted pretty extensive resources to them based on the credits. A lot of stuff left up im yhe air is to allow for folks with 4E era resources to sue their stuff, while people with 2E era resources can use their stuff, and not to confuse newer folks with unnecessary side...

Heroforge introduces microtransaction model with Daggerheart collaboration

Yeah, I love the Critical Role folks and think it is great that Daggerheart is doing well...but between this and the Shennanigans with the "open" license for Daggerheart they have had some WotC-level rake-to- face moments.

D&D General Forgotten Realms: Real World Gods Still Present in the Old Empires

The most obvious explanation is thst they are not keeping to a "canon" based on novel plots, because that is what they said they are doing.

Dhampir and Other Species To Be Included in Astarion's Book of Hungers

A party of Tortle Monks... Though honestly, I'd almost be more interested in running the Netheril stuff without tike travel, just as a high magic Settijg with a loomokg apocalypse storyline.

Forgotten Realms: Adventures in Faerun - First Impressions

I mean, yes, these are pretty much h designed for beer-and-pretzel games, or as options to pick up and run with zero prep. But the DMG goes into detail on how to expand on these sorts of seeds and build off of them. These are rigid setpowces, by design, meant to be either run straightforward or...

Dhampir and Other Species To Be Included in Astarion's Book of Hungers

I agree, I think both is a solid possibility: for Tasha's, theybalsontested options for Ebwrron Rising from the Last War and Mythic Odysseys of Theros, with all the Class options in those books also making it to Tasha's.

    Does Anyone Care? (Cosmere RPG)

They have talked about bit about the latter already: in short, it is going to be significa tly more complex than the Stormlight book, but also essentially the same. Stormlight has 9 Orders of Knights Radiant available, each of whom have access to two Talent trees for Surges from the possible...

New Unearthed Arcana Brings Back Five Subclasses

Here's the thing about the Monk: it is less about unarmed combat, especially with the 2024 changes, it is about being the shirt rest half-caster fighting with supernatural elements. Remove the forced Kung Fu esthetic, it can just as easily cover the concept of, say, a Witcher, or Hercules.

Dhampir and Other Species To Be Included in Astarion's Book of Hungers

Though I think the most obvious thing WotC is cooking is an Everything book, something like Forge of the Artificer but for Ravenloft is also highly plausible.

Dhampir and Other Species To Be Included in Astarion's Book of Hungers

Aggressively indifferent: I'm a cranky Luddote about RPGs, pen and paper only, but I recognize that people like their online tools. The option basically doesn't exist as far as I am concerned if itnis not in a book I can touch.

AD&D 1E What does this (d8, d6) dice notation mean in the DMG?

Add a couple more possibilities you have a nice random table right there. I think option 2 might be the for-realsies reason in this instance: re-rolls aren't thst common in AD&D to my knowledge, and represents roll schemes have their own Baroque quality compared to a statistical spread of a...

D&D General Forgotten Realms: Real World Gods Still Present in the Old Empires

Hero was published in 2016, a good 6 or 7 hears before this book would have begun production. The Wiki notes Yarin Fromstmantle assassinated and his assassination covered up in 1487 DR, but this was ignored in SCAG and now in 1501 DR he is still around. It seems quite clear that the novels are...

AD&D 1E What does this (d8, d6) dice notation mean in the DMG?

That is pretty awesome. Gygax had a very Baroque approach to math.

Ken Burnside on how screwed Asmodee is

Shoot, you can replace "Christian T. Petersen" with "Peter Adkinson", "FFG" with ""WotC", and "Asmodee" with "Hasbro" and pretty much the exact same dynamics apply.
